These truffles are reminiscent of Girl Scout cookies or After Eights, featuring a chocolate coating and a refreshing minty center. Whether you're cozied up by the fire or sharing with friends and family during the holiday season, these truffles add a touch of magic to your Christmas celebrations.
Add the cream cheese and peppermint extract and pulse a few times to combine.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and place it in the freezer for 30 minutes to firm up.
Remove the bowl from the freezer, scoop up a tablespoon of the mixture, and use your hands to roll it into a ball. Place on a parchment-lined plate, then transfer back to the freezer while melting the chocolate.
Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and microwave at 600W. Stop to stir every 20 seconds until fully melted. Alternatively, melt in a double boiler over the stove. Set aside to cool slightly.
Set a truffle on a fork and spoon melted chocolate over it to coat. Swipe away any excess chocolate, then return it to the lined plate.
Sprinkle over a crushed candy cane for decoration while the chocolate is still wet. Then repeat with the remaining truffles.
Place the truffles in the fridge to harden until ready to eat. Enjoy!
Store well sealed in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Tried these for the first time today. Very delicious! I couldn’t find any plain cream cheese, so I swopped it for thick coconut yoghurt. And for some colour, I added fresh strawberries to the plate.

Ooo thanks for the modification idea, Marjolein!

Looks delicious! Would it be okay if I replace peppermint extract with peppermint oil?
PUL Team - March 23, 2024, 6:09 p.m.
Hey Shannon, we imagine you could replace peppermint extract with a food-grade peppermint oil, but we'd recommend starting with less as peppermint oil tends to be more concentrated. You can taste the mixture, and adjust accordingly to avoid overpowering the flavour 😊

Super easy to make and very tasty! I used freezedried raspberries as decorative topping, and I think dried flower petals wouldalso be very pretty!

What brand of cookies do you recommend?
PUL Team - Jan. 23, 2024, 4:19 a.m.
Hey Ally, we personally used the Oreo brand cookies, which are a vegan chocolate sandwich cookie. Any brand will do though 🤗

Hello PUL family! I am making these tomorrow but had trouble sourcing peppermint extract. I managed to find alcohol free peppermint spirits at my local health food store. I was assured by someone who works there they are safe to consume internally. Any thoughts about how to use them as a substitute in this recipe?
Many thanks and happy holidays!
Heather - Dec. 25, 2023, 1:38 a.m.
Actually I answered my own question. I used a direct 1:1 substitution and it worked out perfectly!!!
This might be my favorite thing I've ever made. I'll definitely make it again and again. Thank you for this wonderful recipe!!!

Oooh thanks for taking the time to share your experience with it Heather, that's great to know! Happy holidays and a happy new year to you as well! ✨

Delicious! If you're gluten-intolerant and live in Australia, I used Kez's Vanilla bean cookies and cream bickies. I bought two packets and used 8 large bickies which was the perfect amount. They taste just like After Dinner Mints :D

Thank you for this amazing recipe!!! I can’t wait to try it out by myself. Do you think that I can substitute the cream cheese with coconut yogurt? :)
PUL Team - Dec. 22, 2023, 7:56 p.m.
Hey Gioia! We haven't tried it out so we can't say with 100% certainty. We imagine you could, but perhaps start with less to avoid the mixture getting too thin. Let us know if you test it out 🤗

So, I didn’t have any extract handy so I played around a bit. After freezing them and before chocolate coating, I dipped them in a jam, froze them again, chocolate coated them, and garnished with pomegranate seeds because no candy cane. After sharing them I was asked to make a batch for a coworker and sell them officially lol. I instead referred them to the holy grail of tasty recipes aka PUL :)

Aww love the creative twist on truffles - it's lovely when homemade goodies lead to requests. Such a sweet validation! Thank you, Nicky 🥰

What different extract would you recommend instead of peppermint?
PUL Team - Dec. 21, 2023, 8:48 a.m.
Hey Angelika, you can omit the peppermint for a less minty flavour or replace it with another extract such as vanilla. We've also heard a positive review for lemon extract from Patrycja 🤗

Very tasty! Although my store didn't had peppermint extract so I switched it for lemon and it tasted so great! It was so easy to prepare yet felt so exclusive :)

Meant to type 'the double chocolate' sandwich cookies (instead of the regular kind).
I used 14 double chocolate and 14 regular and they turned out amazing. Thanks PUL!

I made these for my work holiday party on Thursday and they FLEW off the dessert table! I had people coming up to me after saying that they were the best item on the dessert table! Coworkers were raving and asking where I bought them, and when I said I made them they were in shock! One coworker also said how excited he was that they were vegan, because "delicious treats like this help encourage people to become or try being vegan." I myself am not vegan but all of your recipes are absolutely delicious so I thought I would try something different (and to be inclusive if one of my coworkers was vegan). This recipe is perfect for parties and was SO easy to make, I encourage anyone interested to give it a try! (But make sure to save one for yourself because there will not be any leftovers!)
