Walnut & Orange Baklava Rolls

Inspired by traditional baklava, these rolls offer a delightful twist on the classic dessert, featuring layers of filo pastry with a luscious filling of nuts. This version pairs walnuts with the bright zest of oranges, creating a sweet, nutty flavour enhanced by the citrusy freshness. It's a fun and delicious new way to enjoy the textures and tastes of filo pastry.

Okay, the flavour is perfect😍 I used 50g less sugar and it the sweetness was on point. There was a lot of syrup left, so I used it for other baklava recipe. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the instructions were not clear, I layer the whole pastry and filling and only when I rolled it, I realised that there has to be many separate rolls

Hi Dalia! Thanks so much for flagging the confusion, and I'm so sorry about that. I've just now updated the recipe so hopefully it's more clear int he future in case you (or anyone else) gives the recipe a go. So glad you enjoyed it! <3

I wasn't sure about using the filosheeds and the butterspreading(haven't used them before),maybe because of my german language barrier, but i improved and it worked quiet well! I also used hazlenuts and added a pinch of cardamom to my syrup -sooo good!(:

Hi Lisa, it's wonderful to hear that you managed to work through the unfamiliar steps and had success! Adding hazelnuts and cardamom sounds like a delicious twist đŸ€—

Hi there, I absolutely love your recipes! However this time I do not quite understand the instructions. Where do the other 16 filo sheets and the 2/3 of the filling go? Thank you!

Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for the kind words – I'm thrilled to hear you’ve been enjoying the recipes! đŸ„° And thank you for reaching out with your question! In step 5, it actually calls for using a third *cup* of the filling, rather than a third of the entire mixture. For the remaining filo sheets and walnut filling, you’ll keep layering and rolling until the tart tin is fully filled. I’ve updated the instructions a bit to clarify. Let me know if any other questions pop up – I’m here and happy to help! Enjoy the recipe when you make it!

Thank you so much for clarifying! I will definitely enjoy them. 😋

Any other type of nuts you would recommend for this recipe? I would love to try it but I am allergic to walnuts.

Hey Sofia! We imagine you could use pistachios, almonds, or hazelnuts instead of walnuts - they each have a slightly different flavour but work well with orange zest and the syrup in this baklava recipe 😊

I bet pistachio would be superb
