Please stop thinking all north africain food is Maroccan… Maghreb and is food history is much more wider than that…

Heyy friend, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. This recipe was created by one of our team members whose partner is Moroccan, and is a recipe she learned from his family which is why we framed it within that context, but we never want to give the impression that Moroccan cuisine represents all North African or Maghrebi food traditions. We’ve updated the headnote in the “info” tab to better capture this ✨

Can I use coconut oil

PUL small logo PUL Team - April 18, 2025, 3:23 p.m.

Hi, Jadamarie! A refined coconut oil that doesn't impart a coconut taste could replace the vegetable oil and vegan butter. Let us know if you test it out 🤗

My partner and I just got back from a two week trip to Morocco and loved these pancakes when we where there! When I saw this was posted here we immediately made them and it was absolutely delicious! Thank you so much for making it so accessible ❤

OMG! I cannot believe u have a recipe that our family truly admire. There’s a Moroccan shop nearby we live and we buy this every week. My family and I tried to make it ourself, unfortunately it was not so good. Now Pul has it 😁. I definitely let you know how it went. So excited 😆

Ekaterina Karaseva - March 12, 2025, 1:03 a.m.

Wonderful! Do you freeze them ready or on a stage before frying?

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 12, 2025, 4:45 p.m.

Hi Ekaterina! You can freeze them before or after cooking. When freezing uncooked msemmen, place parchment paper between them or wrap them individually before storing the freezer. Let them thaw, and then cook in the pan as written in the recipe. When freezing cooked msemmen, place parchment paper between each one and store them in an airtight container. When ready to enjoy, reheat them in a pan or the air fryer until crispy again 😊✨.
