I made these using the sun š Weāre having a horrible heat wave and I donāt want to turn on the oven at all. I cut the apple with my mandolin, put them on some wire racks covered with cheesecloth, set them in the sun for about 4-6 hours and they turned out perfectly. My boys ate almost the whole first batch and Iām planning on making more tomorrow. Thanks PUL team for another great recipe!
We make them in a dehydrator without the cinnamon. The whole family loves them. Sometimes we accidentally buy apples that feel mushy/gritty (don't know the right word in English) and drying saves them.
Hi PUL-team!
Iām not sure what went wrong. I just tried to make these (they look so easy and yum!) and after 40 minutes I had to take them out because the room suddenly smelt like something was burning, and it turned out they were. Most of them are burnt, only some have okay-ish spots, but not really crispy yet.
I checked the temperature and it was 160 C as it should. I donāt own a mandolin, so the pieces may have been a bit thicker and not as evenly cut (hence the okay-ish spots), but I reckon that shouldāve helped me in this situation 𤣠But maybe thatās it, or I sprinkled too much cinnamon on top (I didnāt measure)? Do you have any clue of what it mightāve been?
Thanks in advance, and I just want to say itās the first recipe ever that didnāt turn out like it should, and Iāve tried a lot!!
Love from a fellow Dutchie!
