The term chai originates from the Hindustani word "chai", which comes from the Chinese word for tea, "cha". There isn't a fixed recipe for chai - there are many versions of this delicious spiced drink. When adding milk to the chai (tea), it becomes a chai latte.

This is traditional Indian Masala chai, loved the depiction 🙈

Sooooo delicious!! Hit the spot. :)
Dunja Markovinovic - Nov. 20, 2024, 11:40 a.m.
A delicious upgrade to my regular chai! I have loose leaf english breakfast so I added it at the same time as milk, so it wouldn't steep for too long. I also used only oat milk and it turned out delicious 😊
PUL Team - Nov. 20, 2024, 10:15 p.m.
Love these ideas, Dunja, and so glad that the turmeric chai latte was enjoyed!
Louise Magnusson - Sept. 2, 2024, 8:09 p.m.
I was pleasantly surprised that this drink was so mild, yet flavourful, considering that many of the spices (especially turmeric) can be “sharp”. The coconut milk matches the spices very well

So good and so sophisticated! I love this one so much
Ilyas - June 13, 2024, 10:05 a.m.
I have just caught a cold and decided to swap out my morning coffee for this recipe to give myself a bit of a boost. The creaminess and taste are amazing, and will definitely continue to make this more often! It definitely feels comforting while I am recovering. :)

So glad that the Turmeric Chai Latte was comforting, Ilyas - and hope you recover soon! 💛

Iman - April 19, 2024, 10:14 p.m.
I love tumeric lattes and usually make mine without a tea (just milk of choice) but this sounds so good and I will definitely be trying this recipe! I just wanted to ask why it needs to simmer for so long? Is it for taste or does it have something to do with extracting the benefits from the ingredients?
PUL Team - April 20, 2024, 5:11 a.m.
Hi Iman! Indeed simmering the ingredients for a longer period helps infuse all the flavours into the drin. Hope you enjoy the recipe 🤗
Aileen - April 18, 2024, 9:29 p.m.
Delicious! Delicious! I’ll certainly make this one again.
Claire Whittaker - Jan. 12, 2024, 9:01 p.m.
This drink is so yummy! Was a bit worried mid way through that I wasn't going to enjoy it as it smelt a bit strange! But worth sticking in there and simmering for the full time as it turns all caramelly. Think I will serve with an ice cube or two in next time as it was boiling and nearly burnt my tongue! I used rooibos if anyone needs a caffine free tea suggestion for the base.
PUL Team - Jan. 13, 2024, 7:40 p.m.
Hey there, Claire, thanks a bunch for sharing your experience with the Turmeric Chai Latte! Rooibos is a lovely idea and we're so glad not tongues were burnt 🤗
Lilly - Dec. 5, 2023, 12:37 p.m.

Priscila Pereira - Oct. 13, 2023, 10:51 p.m.
I only had soy milk and this drink came out delicious already. Can’t wait to try with creamier types of milk!
Hilal Kis - Aug. 21, 2023, 8:03 p.m.
First, i used tooo much tumeric which made me not like the recipe at all. After realizing that i used too much, it is probably something i will make more. I am a fan from the health benefits, too :)

I want to add: outstanding flavour and texture!

It would be nice to be referred as a step at the beginning the following: prepare all ingredients. Because there is the ginger and cardamom step but not the rest. Then you can follow the prepare section with all the ingredients ready. The house had a amazing smell cooking this drink! It was delicious!
PUL Team - Jan. 30, 2023, 6:26 a.m.
Hey Raquel Perdigão Williams, thanks for the feedback! Our intention for the first step in cook-along mode was to prepare ingredients with slight modifications. We'll note down the feedback to help us improve though and are so glad the recipe was enjoyed 😃
