Hi, I want to give this a try, however if I want to swap the vanilla bean to extract, how much do I add of the vanilla extract? Thank a lot, love your app!!!

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 11, 2026, 6:40 p.m.

Hello Jenniffer, thanks for the love and support 🥰 you could use about 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in place of the vanilla bean for the unscaled recipe (15 servings). We'd recommend adding it after removing the syrup from the heat to help preserve its flavour. The taste won't be quite as rich and complex as a whole vanilla bean, although we imagine it'll still be delicious 🙌✨

Question: This sounds so yummy! Does it have to granulated white sugar? Or can I use any other kind? (Turbinado;cane;coconut etc). Thank you! ❤️

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 5, 2025, 5:30 a.m.

Hey Kit! You can use turbinado, cane, or coconut sugar instead if you'd like! They’ll each bring a slightly different flavour, and some (like coconut sugar) are a bit less sweet, so you might want to taste as you go and adjust to your liking 🤗

Love this🤩

Ashley - Feb. 16, 2025, 12:54 a.m.

I love the consistency of this syrup but I was curious about the spice ratio. I prefer a spicier chai and I was wondering if doubling the amount of spices would give me the result I’m looking for. Would that work, or is there a different method I should try?😊

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 16, 2025, 8:33 p.m.

Hey Ashley! Doubling the spices could work to give you a stronger chai flavour, although you might want to start by increasing them by 1.5 times instead of doubling to avoid overpowering the sweetness. You could also try adding a little more ginger for an extra spicy kick 🫶

Thank you so much!😊

amazing.

Aileen - March 25, 2024, 10:16 p.m.

Very simple to make. However, mine didn’t darken as much as shown in the photos. I let it simmer an extra ten minutes, but it stayed a light caramel color. It’s still delicious.

Julia Mawer - Feb. 17, 2024, 11:21 a.m.

How long do you reckon this would last?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 18, 2024, 4:41 a.m.

Hey Julia, you can store the syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. In case you haven't seen yet and it helps in the future, the storage instructions on the app are in the directions tab and the last slide of the "Make" step-by-step instructions 🤗

Julia Mawer - Feb. 18, 2024, 9:59 a.m.

Ah yes, thanks. I've just signed up to the app 😅

No problem, it's a little hidden! Welcome to the PUL App, Julia, we're excited for more delicious adventures together 🤗

Amanda - Sept. 16, 2023, 2:06 p.m.

I’ve truly missed the taste of chai in my lattes since going plantbased. This really hit the spot. Thank you!

Oh we’re so happy to hear, Amanda - thank you ✨🫶

Anna Złota - Aug. 27, 2023, 6:07 p.m.

Very easy and delicious.
As somebody said - in my country syrups are expensive too (especially if it’s good quality) so it’s good idea to do it on my own. I was wondering if it’s possible to make it with xylitol 🫣

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 31, 2023, 2:18 a.m.

So happy to hear, Anna! We haven't tested it out with xylitol but if you experiment with it do let us know how it goes :)

Julia Mawer - Feb. 17, 2024, 11:22 a.m.

Or honey? 🤔

Tami - Aug. 16, 2023, 3:26 p.m.

I loved this so much! I would to see more syrup recipes if possible. In my country syrups are a little expensive and this was so easy and fun! Thank you for all the amazing work <3

Thank you for the request, Tami, we've noted it down 😃

Linda Fe - July 30, 2023, 9:09 p.m.

This syrup recipe was easy to follow. I didn't have cardamom pods or whole cloves at home so I substituted with their powdered forms, a pinch of clove and a 1/2 tsp of green cardamom. I was savoring the aromas that transformed my kitchen. Made the syrup the night before using it in the iced latte recipe - wonderful!

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 31, 2023, 4:16 p.m.

Mmm a lovely idea to use ground spices. Thank you, Linda!

Carissa Joy - July 26, 2023, 3:05 p.m.

First simple syrup I’ve made for coffee and it was delicious! Easy to follow directions and everyone that has tried it has loved it. You’re upping my hosting game. 😉

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 27, 2023, 3:03 a.m.

Hehe so happy to hear, Carissa! You sound like an incredible host 😜

Luiza Alice - July 19, 2023, 11:58 a.m.

Hey, ‘stupid question’ - if I add half of indicated sugar amount- what will happen ? I know it’s syroup, but will it give more flavored and less carbs ?
I usually cut sugar by half in Gordon and Nigella’s recipes but your if so, by only 1/4 , as they are to-the point and healthy :)
So tell me :) For chai latte of course !

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 22, 2023, 3:14 a.m.

Hey Luiza, no such thing as a stupid question! 😜 Usually equal parts water and sugar are used for syrup, but you could try with less if you prefer. It will be more of a thin consistency and less sweet as you may imagine 😊
