Ingredients

Optional garnish

  • crushed gingerbread cookies
  • vegan whipped cream

Make your own

Directions

  1. Add the barista milk to a saucepan on high heat. Whisk throughout to create some froth. Stay with it, as it often only needs a minute to heat through. When the milk starts to simmer, remove the pan from the heat and pour it into your desired mugs.
  2. Return the saucepan to the stove on medium heat, and whisk together the espresso, maple syrup, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and clove. Let everything heat through.
  3. Divide the espresso mixture between your mugs and top with whipped cream and cookie crumbles, if desired. Serve while hot, and enjoy!

Notes

  • †Blackstrap molasses is a dark, thick, often bitter syrup, which is produced during the sugar-making process. You can substitute it with 1 Tbsp (15 mL) dark corn syrup, or maple syrup, or ΒΎ Tbsp (9 g) packed brown sugar or granulated sugar.

Storage

  • Best if enjoyed immediately.

Claire Whittaker - Nov. 20, 2023, 10:08 p.m.

Not normally a coffee fan but this is delicious πŸ˜‹ used black treacle ,which is more common in the uk, instead of molasses

Shruti - Sept. 5, 2023, 7:16 a.m.

My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to make one cozy drink every evening because it's now autumn! (ok I know we're several weeks early, but it's the best season, so it's ok πŸ˜›). Started off strongly with this recipe! It's so delicious and cozy, and absolutely perfect! 😍 Thanks for the recipe, PUL!

alice - Dec. 17, 2021, 6:16 p.m.

hey, why would you add so much surag into the chocolate ? Chocolate has already much sugar ..
Otherwise love your recipees and channel ! <3

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 20, 2021, 9:36 p.m.

Hey Alice! We don't have any chocolate in this recipe, although we do enjoy the deliciously sweet flavour that sugar can provide recipes. You can learn more about our philosophy with sugar in this article if you haven't already seen it yet and are interested: pickuplimes.com/article/a-gui… We hope this helps for now and so glad you're enjoying the PUL content πŸ˜ƒ

Hey, thank you for your insight, you're so kind ! ;)
i just looked, and of course i was referring to the next recipee in this video (cause when i click on the video on your blog, je ne peux pas m'empecher de regarder le video entier ;) Cause listening to dear Sadia is always pure joy ;)
So i guess it is the almond brownies.
Could you explain please - whu not only chocolate ?
I remember watching your video about 1 y ago about sugar 'is it all that bad' and it was very comprehensible. As always d'ailleurs.
I am thankful for your existance every day, really ;)

Hi Alie, thanks for the insight. So happy to hear the lovely feedback as well. The sugar video you're referring to also shares that sugar might contribute to our own satisfaction, sense of cultural or social well-being, and overall enjoyment. For the almond brownie cookies, the sugar also helps contribute to the flavour and texture. If desired, you can experiment with less sugar or omit it though πŸ™‚

In general, at PUL, we believe food serves to 1) nourish the cells, and 2) nourish the soul. In the first instance, we might think of foods that are nutrient-dense and help our bodies function at the most optimal (such as veggies, fruits, legumes, etc). In the second instance, we might think of foods that we give ourselves permission to enjoy, even if they're not traditionally deemed nutrient-rich. These are foods we may enjoy because we feel like it, are enjoying food in the company of others, etc. -such as the cookies. We hope this helps for now, Alie!

Magdalena - July 26, 2021, 9:55 a.m.

That is such a cosy and tasty drink. Last winter I was making it a lot and together with cowboy cookies they were the go to for my family.
Also, the photos of these recipes are the next level.

So glad the gingerbread latte has been enjoyed, Magdalena, thank you!

Ellie - July 10, 2021, 11:59 p.m.

Delightful! My partner loved it and I reduced the maple to my taste.

Heather Ellis - July 10, 2021, 7:21 a.m.

So yummy, satisfying, and comforting! This is well loved by everyone I’ve made it for, and as others have commented, is like Christmas in a cup you can have year round! Beware: May lead to overindulgence in coffee.

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 15, 2021, 5:36 a.m.

Hi Heather, thanks so much for taking the time to share the incredible review!

Katherine Broberg - July 9, 2021, 7:42 p.m.

This is my favorite of your hot drinks! Christmas in a cup, that’s what it is.

Cyntia - July 8, 2021, 6:28 p.m.

This is the latte everyone asks for when they come over. It is the definition of hug in a mug!

Nikki Stratelak - July 8, 2021, 5:59 p.m.

This was my GO TO latte last winter. I made it for friends and family and impressed everyone. I even put little gingerbread men on top!

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 9, 2021, 10:11 p.m.

We're so honoured to hear this, Nikki! Love the idea of gingerbread on top πŸ˜ƒ

Sarah - June 12, 2021, 10:39 a.m.

Can I use a substitute for the molasses? I wonder if brown sugar would be okay or plain white sugar?
Thanks

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 13, 2021, 12:47 a.m.

Hey there, Sarah! You can substitute the molasses with 1 tbsp of maple syrup or dark corn syrup or 3/4 tbsp of packed brown sugar or granulated sugar. We hope you love the recipe πŸ€—
