A huge hit with my 3-year old!
I eat oatmeal six days a week and I have always loved it. But my husband is, as I say, oatmeal resistant. Imagine my surprise when I made this and saw he ate the full bowl without a word of complaint. This is simply a tummy warming treasure that tastes like a dessert, not breakfast. Simply lovely.
My new favorite!
This has been one of my favourite autumn/winter oatmeal recipes ever since I first tried it. The combination of flavours are the best! So cosy! Today I swapped the caramelised pear for homemade pear sauce and it was incredible. 🙌🏼
Could hazelnut milk replace soy milk ?
My eight-year-old niece and I decided to trial run a couple different PUL oatmeal recipes one Saturday morning, and we both especially loved this one! We didn’t have pears on hand, so we used apples, and it turned out great. A delicious way to get the little one to actually eat a nourishing breakfast. Adult AND kid approved!!
It was fun to try this recipe as I had all the ingredients including optionals and toppings. 🍐 liked the caramelized pear. Mine were on the greener side so needed a lot more time on the stove. I even added splashes of water throughout.
Such a delicious oatmeal. I didn't have pears so I made the carnelized apples from the Semolina Porridge recipe. Worked out very well.
J'adore !
I used small cut oats and it worked out fine! Very delicious indeed :)
Delicious! Doesn't end up on our menu as much as the mocha hazelnut version, but this is also very nice!
Tout simplement délicieux! J’ai par ailleurs remplacé le clou de girofle par de la cardamome… que je mets là où je peux 🤭
Delicious 🥰
Delicious. Quickly added to my favourites. I’m loving this app. Every recipe has been amazing 😍
I made this stamattina ! To b precise blended this with your mocha hazelnut oatmeal - heaven !
Added all the spices from this one along with cacao and chocolate and pear and peanut butter on the top !! Almost licked the casserole after ahah.
Happy New Year, beautiful Sadia !! Yesterday i met a new friend who already loves you when i mentioned your great recipes and tips ;)
Delicious 😋
This made the perfect Christmas breakfast! Yum :) made with plums instead of pears as that was what we had and was delicious
Wholesome for winter breakfast!
I really enjoyed this! I always use 3 parts liquid to 1 part oatmeal so I added 1 cup of water to the recipe. I also don't have access to coconut yogurt in the area we live but I had made a homemade coconut whipped cream from Oh She Glows website for another recipe and that paired perfectly with this oatmeal. My kids said it wasn't their favorite but I'll make it again for me!
Terrific recipe, so tasty! I used oat milk, and sautéed extra pears to have later. No pecans, si added walnuts. Yum!
Delicious and warming
Love the gingerbread oatmeal with pears tastes amazing, love all your recipes, your videos are really calming
So delicious! I love how it isn’t super sweet.
the quintessential autumn breakfast🍂😋
Loved it, did use a lot less of the maple and did not add the molases the pear made it sweet wnough for me
A treat for breakfast.
The pears are the star of this warm fall breakfast. The yogurt adds creaminess and shouldn’t be skipped. I made enough to take to work the next couple of days. Yum!
Love this fall recipe and it was so enjoyable to make and so good❤️
Oh. Oh wow. This oatmeal is a gift from the heavens. 😍 It's absolutely delicious and so nourishing, body and soul! One little hack: I throw the pecans in the pan with the pears and they get toasty and a little bit candied. Mmmm. Oh and I'm in the States with not the best access to good fresh pears, so I just use canned pears!
Le porridge est délicieux, et idéal avec tout un mélange de texture et de saveur. J'ai trouvé mon bonheur, c'est devenu mon porridge préféré.💕😋
It’s in my rotation of oatmeals. I love it ! Sometimes I do a faster version : i just eat with a raw pear or appel.
An easy and tasty breakfast !
I love this recipe. I just had it for breakfast for the second time. It is really warm and comfy and perfect for a cold morning. I didn’t have a few things so ended up using cinnamon, ginger and clove with brown sugar at the end. It is still beautiful! Thank you for all of your recipes.
I am definitely trying this recipe!!
Literally the BEST oatmeal I have EVER made! I can't rave about this enough - super cozy and comforting, yet elevated and has me counting the days until my pears are perfectly ripe!
Love alll your recipess
I have made oatmeal with pear and anise + cinnamon before, but this spice combination and the caramelization of the pears take it to a whole other level! It isn't the quickest breakfast, but the extra invested time is worth it. To switch it up I would suggest adding a bit of anise and/or some raisins to the pot of oatmeal. The raisins will swell up and be very sweet and a good flavour combination.
This was amazing!!
Just made and ate this and i love it! I've never caramelised pears before and they were delicious. I added a few blueberries as well as yogurt and it was delightful. So easy to make, so quick, fully recommend this.
So good and warming.
Yummmy! I sweetened mine with date sugar(dried dates pulsed in a food processor) and they cooked down in the pot and added to the rich gingerbread spices.
I wanted to up the protein a bit so I added some fava bean protein and the spices totally disguised the taste.
I think it will be delicious with any poached fruit. This might be my new go to breakfast.
I absolutely love this recipe. So does my kid. It’s too hot here for warm oatmeal right now, but I can’t wait for the fall to make it again.
Delicious!
So simple to make and was really delicious to eat!
Delicious and easy to make!
I am always happy and satisfied with your recipes and this one is no exception. Delis!!!
Such a tasty oatmeal. I’ve made it twice and it was heavenly
Amazing! Great way to wake up and warm up on a winter's morning. Thank you for posting this recipe, definitely one to enjoy over and over again!
Loved this recipe! Oatmeal was perfect texture and loved every flavor-filled bite. The carmelized pear on the side also was super easy and very tasty! Thanks PUL! :)
I’m so happy that I gave this recipe another try! I excluded the flaxseeds/chia seeds and it got much better. Creamy, concentrated warm flavours of all the spices, and indulgent! This holiday oatmeal requires more time than the others, but it is definitely worth caramelising the pear. Love the idea from previous reviewers to replace pears with apples! I topped my oatmeal with coconut yoghurt and walnuts, very tasty
Delicious! I used apples instead of pears and they still came out perfectly, and the flavors of the oatmeal were so warm and comforting :) I already know I'll be making this again!
This tastes so amazing! Christmas in a bowl! We have had it several times this winter already! :)
Dear Sadia,
I used to hate oatmeal, no matter what you did to it. Then my sister made this oatmeal recipe for me, and It was wonderful! You have helped me become a open minded eater, and now I eat all sorts of combinations that I never thought would taste good. All of your recipes have such great flavors, and leave me and my family wanting more!
p.s : Where did you find the watercolor hanging plants that are on your website?
First time going from a silent watcher of Pick Up Limes videos to taking their stuff into the kitchen. While I didn't go all the way through with the caramelized pear, since in my neck of the woods the price and (lack of) seasonality wasn't for me, the base gingerbread oatmeal was truly a cozy and delicious boost to my mid-morning. I normally make oatmeal by boiling water and tossing it into a bowl, but I could taste the extra steps in preparing the oats--as well as feel extra productive for following the recipe. I reduced the maple syrup to half a teaspoon and it was the right amount of sweetness for me since the flavor story from the spices and molasses kept me on my toes.
So delicious. The perfect balance of flavors (as usual for your recipes!) I'll definitely be having this a lot this winter.
Delicious! I thought this might be overly sweet but it was just right.
Just made this for breakfast! So easy and really delicious! I didn’t think oatmeal could actually taste this good. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!
It is absolutely awesome! Whole family loved this festive breakfast on the last day of 2021!
Thank you so much for the recipe!!!
This was such a wonderful winter bowl full of flavour and the additional cosy-facter! I have been really enjoying pears recently and the addition of the caramelized pear on top was so good. 🥰 I have used ground ginger in oatmeal before and loved it, and, with the added spices, molasses and maple syrup, this recipe is even better. 🤌🏻🥣 The ultimate winter breakfast.
I tried this oatmeal for a Christmas family gathering, and loved it. It was a bit sweet for me, but with unsweetened coconut yogurt, it balanced it out well. I'm not Vegan, but I love the options. I do substitute a lot of the time, so I used lactose free milk, ultra filtered and/or non-use cow's milk, in my diet. I don't drink milk a lot, but I prefer it to other milks. Else I use coconut milk. I find that the sugar contents increase because I have trouble adjusting to the flavor.
But I'm working on increasing my oatmeal intake for breakfast, as a staple, and this has been added to my rotating recipes. Would love to see a rice porridge recipe that I could use and modify. Or even a cornmeal porridge recipe.
Also caramelized pears (and apples) was amazing!
Wonderful, will also make as an overnight oat breakfast so I can take to work.
Didn’t have pears so used apples, which was lovely, and topped with avocado, yoghurt and grapes.
Extremely filling.
This is my new favourite oatmeal recipe! I eat oatmeal for breakfast every day, so the gingerbread flavour is a perfect way to enjoy oatmeal during the winter holidays. I top my oatmeal with persimmons, pecans, and caramelized bananas. Thank you for another wonderful recipe!
I made this as a Christmas breakfast for my mom and I today. It was sooo good, with all the spices and especially the caramelized fruit, we used apples. And the yogurt really helped with balancing everything. Thanks for the great recipe PUL Team :-)
Omg it's Christmas morning and I thought this was the perfect breakfast for today. I topped it instead with some carmalized apple. And I loved it 😍❤️ It was so good. Thank you for this incredible delicious recipe.
