So easy and yet so delicious! First time making savoury oatmeal so I was a bit sceptical. But am now a convert. Thank you!
Idéal pour les moments où on sait qu'il faut se nourrir correctement mais qu'on n'en a pas la force. Bon, chaud, réconfortant, et plein de nutriments
Wife loved it
Delicious!
Delicious!
So good! I didn't have exact ingredients (no radishes handy), so made some substitutions. It still tasted great. Thanks for the recipe.
Simple and quick recipe, also the first savoury oat porridge I made and it turned out well! Next time I will add just half of the bouillon cube as it dominated the overall taste.
Delicious.
Perfect on a cold rainy reading day 📖🌧️
Thank you 😊
This was delicious !!
Really nice. I made this as a quick lunch today. I swapped the edamame for frozen peas and the sriracha for Gochujang and added some shiitake mushrooms to the mixture, topped it with cucumber, nori and crispy onions since we haven’t had the recommended toppings. Really savory and satisfying lunch. I like that many of your recipes are adjustable to the ingredients one has on hand.
Really tasty! I couldn't get edamame so I used canned soy beans and it was still delicious!
Ok wow. I was skeptical about savoury oatmeal but I really want more oatmeal
options in my life. This is SO tasty! A new lunch regular for me!! Thank you!
This was surprisingly super tasty and delicious! I was a little skeptical, but mind blown at the flavors. Definitely give this a try!
It was amazing.. Before I added the miso. No idea, even though I love miso, this one got a bit too rough for me after adding it. Next time I will have it simply without or maybe add just a tiny amount. A great recipe nevertheless.
Love it!
I love this for any meal of the day! I swap coconut milk for soy milk and make it at least once a week. And any leftovers reheat so easily.
This is really good! Never had a savoury oatmeal before and I think I like it more than the sweet kind. I personalized the recipe a bit. I added fresh bean sprouts. Instead of raw radishes I cooked them with zucchini.
I didn’t have plant milk on hand so I made it with just water but added hemp and pumpkin seeds and still turned out AMAZING! Will be a new go to as I love savory breakfasts thank you PUL 🤍🤍🙌
This recipe is simply amazing. It resembles an Asian congee/rice porridge, but has the creaminess and health benefits of oatmeal. And the flavour has so much depth! I've modified a few things: used steel cut instead of rolled oats, cut out the coconut milk because I didn't have any, and used chicken bouillon instead of veg, because that's what I had. Deeeelious!!! I've made this a few times already, and can't get enough!
Definitely adding this to my go-to breakfasts. Such a refreshing change from sweet oats and so easy to whip up!
This recipe is delicious and so versatile! I made it with some soy milk and peas as a more budget option and it was so yummy and comforting ^^
Thank you Sadia and team for all the inspiring and tasty meals 💚
Really unique flavor, simple to make, and an interesting alternative to plain oatmeal. I added an extra splash of water in place of the sesame oil as I don’t cook with oil.
I made this with quinoa and bulgur wheat instead of the oats. Added some butter beans and a salad to make it into a main meal. Turned out so tasty still - and so quick!! Probably going to be one of my go to meals now (because I am still hooked on your granola recipe for my breakfast). Thanks Sadia ♥️
Hello! Could I try this with steel cut oats instead of rolled oats? I am sure this will change the cooking time, but what about the liquid volume in the recipe?
I thought steel cut oats are more chewy, and I love the texture of them!
i loved this recipe!! didn’t have rolled oats so i changed the liquid ratio to a 2:1 liquid to oats balance—everything else was the same—and it still worked!!
I love the way you present your videos. They are well thought out and very aesthetically done. Great job!
Best breakfast I've had in recent memory! I didn't have edamame on hand, so I topped it with sautéed mushrooms and spinach. Absolutely delicious!
Hi Sadia
Will this recipe work with cous cous? I find oats make me bloated (unless it's overnight oats in which case I am fine). Also do you have any suggestions for swapping miso paste if I can't find it where I live...?
So Good! I added curcuma and tahini it was perfect, thank you!!
Hi Sadia,
I was very happy to find this recipe, because I eat oatmeal very often for breakfast. My recipe is like that:
* 30g rolled oats
* 60g red lentils
*400ml water
* vegetable bouillon powder
* 0,5 onion
* mushrooms or fennel or courgette
It would be great, if there are more recipes like that in the future.
Regards
Stephanie
First experience with a savory oatmeal and it will not be the last! The flavor combinations along with all the toppings were incredible.
Been on a health kick of late and hate having oats, though it's good to lower cholesterol levels. Absolutely loving your oatmeal recipes - I tried this one today and was blown away. It was so delicious, even though I didn't use the coconut milk. Definitely going to repeat this.
Thanks Sadia
Tried this today, turned out great! And super quick, so I'm sure we'll have it again soon. Thank you for the recipe!
This was a spur of the moment lunch for me, it was AMAZING!! I had the option of oatmeal as substitute lunch....and I thought to myself, I'm going to have a creative oatmeal and went right to your site,......definitely didn't disappoint!! (EATING as I'm writing this lol) thank you for this meal! Will make over and over!
Hi! I don't have access to light coconut milk (I just have full fat). How could I dilute it to obtain a similar texture than light coconut milk? Thank you!
I’ve never been the biggest fan of oatmeal in general, but I could eat this oatmeal everyday! I have tried it with light coconut milk, and another time with soy milk. The soy milk option works in a pinch, but I definitely recommend the creamier texture from the light coconut milk. Thank you PUL for all of your delicious recipes!!!
my first savory oatmeal. I like it, but next time i will try sojamilk instead of coconut, because for me it is to sweet. If you have more ideas for savory oatmeal, i am very interesting in it😍😂
This is my first time trying out a savoury oatmeal. I used to be sceptical about it, and now I’m a convert. I used dashi granules instead of vegetable cube and it turned out really delicious.
Just made this for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. I made it with grilled mushrooms, bell pepper and savoy cabbage chips. Flavorful and easily adjustable if you want to fill up on vegetables. This will be a staple in our household!
Tasted absolutely amazing! A beautiful mix of flavors and textures. Perfect for a cold January day in Bergen, Norway. Thank you!
This recipe is off-the-hook insane! I'd been wanting to have a slower morning to do this dish right for a while and finally did this past weekend. Seriously unbelievable! It's definitely going to be a vegan 'gateway' dish for me to make for friends & family.
I much prefer savory foods to sweet, and so many breakfast foods are sweet, especially vegan ones! I was so excited you came out with these, it was like you answered our prayers, lol. We tried it this morning and the flavors were AMAZING! Still not a fan of oatmeal texture but I felt with the addition of edamame, radish and pickled onions, my brain lit up with every bite. Thanks PUL! We love you guys.
Delicious and crazy filling. I completely missed the topping suggestion of pickled red onions. I used some sun-dried tomatoes instead since I was thinking it could use some acid (again, having missed the pickled onion suggestion). It was delicious with the tomatoes, too. Next time will be the onions, though. Thanks, this is going to be sitting with me all morning!
Could I use red miso paste too?
Wonderful and extremely tasty dish, I had it two nights running (as dinner instead of breakfast)! I was wondering if you could offer a good substitute to the coconut milk, so as to make it less sweet? Would that mean using water or another milk alternative? Many thanks for inspiring and, most of all, yummy meals! ☺️
I am very much a savory breakfast kinda person and this is like a dream breakfast! Comes together in about 15 mins and the flavor of miso, spring onion and edamame is divine! Definitely going to become a staple one! Thank you 😊
I am so happy you made some savoury oatmeal recipes as both combinations sound delicious. I tried this one today and really liked it. As it's new to me, I still rate sweet oatmeal recipes higher but the flavours in this were still spot on!
Yes! Finally, savory oats! Thank you so much for making these. This Umami oatmeal is great!
Is it possible to substitute for a different type of milk?
I saw these oatmeal recipes on your latest YouTube video and I knew had to try all of them! I'm making this savoury miso oatmeal next because I usually eat sweet oatmeal, so this is a creative twist. I already know that this recipe is going to be fantastic. Thanks PUL team :)
I tried this (with half the quantity of ingredients to make one serving) and even without the pickled radishes on top (and the use of a pork stock cube instead of a vegetable one!) it was delicious. I would definitely make it again when I’m in the mood for a savoury breakfast. The amount of sesame was perfect—in my opinion recipes often use far too much sesame, but this was spot on. Lovely way to nourish my body first thing in the morning! Thank you for the recipe❤️
Creamy, comforting, delicious
