It's easy to make, and very tasty

isabela - Jan. 26, 2025, 8:29 p.m.

My tempeh was a bit sticky, even after cooking. Not sure if that is normal. Other than that, I am excited to eat it all!

Hey Isabela, it's normal for tempeh to be a little sticky, especially if there’s excess moisture. Try cooking a bit longer, or if your tempeh is naturally more 'moist', try baking it in the oven! :)

nox - Jan. 8, 2025, 2:51 p.m.

In the food processor it became paste, and not crumbly 🫠

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 8, 2025, 3:09 p.m.

Hey Nox, oh no! It sounds like the mixture might have been over-processed. If you give the recipe another try, pulsing in shorter bursts to keep it crumbly could help you get more control over the texture. If your mixture has become too paste-like, you can spread it on toast, use it as a filling for wraps, or stir it into pasta or rice dishes for a hearty addition to avoid wasting it 🙌

Just had this again. Taco Tuesday doesn’t need anything else but a stack of veggies and you have a fantastic taco salad.

Yayy happy taco Tuesday, John!

I never really liked tempeh but ate it because it is good for me, but this recipe has changed my mind. Love this dish 👍

wot is tempeh?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 9, 2023, 9:35 a.m.

Hey Lily, tempeh is a fermented soybean product that originates from Indonesia. It's made by cooking and fermenting soybeans, resulting in a dense, nutty, and slightly earthy flavored cake or patty. It's a popular meat substitute in plant-based dishes because of its high protein content and versatility. If you'd prefer, you can use tofu instead :)

When I made this it was a bit wet, when I tried to fry it to remove the moisture it just burnt. Is there a way I can make it dryer or is it supposed to be sloppy? It tasted nice

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 13, 2023, 7:55 p.m.

Hi Michelle, I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed the flavor but sorry to learn that the texture wasn't quite right. The soy sauce is the main ingredient that contributes moisture to the tempeh blend, so I'm puzzled about why yours turned out wet. Could it be that your tempeh was steamed beforehand? That might introduce extra moisture.

In any case, you can cook off the excess moisture. Using a non-stick pan would be beneficial, and also make sure the heat setting isn't too high to prevent burning. Lowering the temperature a bit could allow the extra moisture more time to evaporate 😊

So I made this with a homemade block of tempeh and then used it in Cottage Pie . It worked a dream . I added some cooked rice to the mix and some beans and cooked it really slowly . It was gorgeous !!! Thank you .. again and again and again 💗x

So good! Quick and delicious. I used tofu instead as I prefer it and then baked it. This now is my go to when I want a meal with ‘mince’ in it. I will try it with tempeh in the future.
