Can you make these by rising the dough in the fridge overnight?
PUL Team - Oct. 30, 2024, 4:11 a.m.
Hey Emiko, we imagine you can! After kneading, just pop the dough in the fridge overnight, covered. In the morning, let it warm up to room temp before dividing, filling, and shaping 🤗

Made this with fig, mandarin and cherry jam, and it was delicious. Plus the kitchen smells amazing ☺️

Mmm delicious ideas, Athina! Thank you 🙌

In Austria, we call them "Buchteln" and they are for sure from a slavian country. We love to fill ours with plum jam and pour over some vanilla sauce 😋
PUL Team - Oct. 12, 2024, 2:46 p.m.
Thanks for the insight, Isabella! Indeed this recipe was inspired by Buhtlji 🥰 If you're interested and haven't seen it yet, there's a section in the "info" tab of the app's recipes that provides background and additional information 🫶

These were amazing but mine weren’t nearly as fluffy as the ones in the picture. Pick Up Limes Team, is there any way to fix this? What can I do right next time? :)
PUL Team - Oct. 12, 2024, 2:41 p.m.
Hi Alysha, thank a bunch for sharing your experience with the buns 🙂 Was your soy milk cold by any chance? Lukewarm soy milk is best for activating yeast, as cold soy milk will slow down the process and promote a less fluffy bun texture. It's also possible that the bread dough was overmixed. For kneading for example, about 5 minutes should do the trick, or until the dough is smooth and elastic ✨

Took 4 hours in total to make but SO delightful!!! I’d 1000% recommend using the Great Value Red Raspberry Preserve jam— it really sends this bun through the roof. They filled the whole house up with a sugary, buttery smell that was to die for! Overall this was a lovely bake; thank you!!

Hi, team! Thank you for your amazing recipes! Could you please let me know if this dough will work with savory fillings as well? I was looking for a dough and this one looks perfectly fluffy and I would like to try it. Thank you so much in advance :)

These were super easy to make and so delicious! This is the fluffiest dough I ever made vegan, great recipe! Following all the instructions mine were done after about 20 mins in the oven so definitely check on them frequently

Hey Kristina, thanks for sharing your experience with the jam buns! Could you kindly let me know which oven setting you used? We bake them using a conventional setting with top and bottom heating, and each time we've baked them they were done in 40 - 45 minutes. Fan-assisted settings, on the other hand, speed up the cooking time significantly—perhaps to the 20-minute mark you mentioned. If this aligns with your experience, I'd love to update the recipe to accommodate different oven types. Thank you for helping us make our recipe better! 🤗
Kristina - Nov. 14, 2023, 5:31 p.m.
Hi, sorry I only saw this now, I have also used the conventional setting (Ober- Unterhitze in german) so there should be no fan involved. I do have a new oven tho where everything seems to bake quicker, it might just be the model. :)

Romane Q - April 16, 2023, 4:51 p.m.
It’s a nice recipe but the result was not as good as expected. It’s not as fluffy and light as yours seems. I could be because of my yeast that was in a cold soy milk, I’m not sure that it had the time to wake up. I used whole wheat flour, it could be the reason why it was too heavy. Are we suppose to kneat the dought during a long time ?
I still give 5 stars for the recipe because I think the problem come from my dooing 😅. Thank you for your work and I will try again with your advices 👍
PUL Team - April 17, 2023, 1:54 a.m.
Hey there, Romane, thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe! Lukewarm soy milk is indeed best for activating yeast. Cold soy milk will slow down the process and promotes a less fluffy bun texture. We also wouldn't recommend substituting bread flour for whole wheat flour. Bread flour is ideal for creating a strong and elastic dough that can rise and hold its shape during baking. Whole wheat flour has different properties which makes a denser and slightly nuttier bun. If you want to experiment more with whole wheat flour, the recipe will likely need modifications such as more soy milk 🙂
For kneading, about 5 minutes should do the trick, or until the dough is smooth and elastic - we've just updated the recipe directions to reflect this 😊 We hope this helps for now!
El Niv - April 16, 2023, 5:31 a.m.
Loved this recipe and the end result was very tasty. The only uncertainty was that I almost overlooked the buns, although there were still 15 mins left on the timer. However I have come across this before with other recipes, seems like different countries have very different ovens. So for anyone else in Australia, the buns only need to bake for 20 mins. They were still delicious though!
El Niv - April 16, 2023, 5:31 a.m.
* overcooked, not overlooked
PUL Team - April 16, 2023, 3:54 p.m.
Hey there, El Niv, thanks so much for sharing your experience with the recipe! Ovens can indeed vary, but we'll keep an eye out just in case anyone else shares the same feedback 🤗
