Side

Kisir is a traditional Turkish salad, made from fine bulgur, fresh herbs and delicious tomato and pepper pastes, that give this salad a typical red colour. The salad bursts with flavours and is often served with romaine lettuce. The pomegranate molasses provides the salad with a pleasantly sweet and tart taste. It is also great for preparing in advance!

Not bad, but I guess I'm not a fan of Turkish flavors because just like the cig kofte, I wasn't particularly enjoying every mouthful.

Love this! Have made it a couple of times and made it yesterday for a Christmas potluck party, with lots of people (who were heavy meat eaters btw) asking for the recipe. 💚

This is so good! I couldn't find the pepper paste so I made my own and it's really easy, just a little time consuming. The dish is so summery and really substantial. I made this alongside a couscous salad and some vegan kebabs, and we have plenty leftover. I don't think it'll last long though!

I loved this salad, definitely on my 'saved PUL list'! 😊

In Antakya we do it a little bit different than rest of Turkey. Instead of cooking the bulgur we just let it sit in the water until the texture is how we like it. This way it’s a little crispy. But i enjoy every version nonetheless. ☺️

Thanks for sharing your experience, Bilge - it's so appreciated ☺️

This was very delicious. We had the salad for dinner and my husband and I both thought that it would be a great side / component for a barbecue feast. I followed Bensu’s recommendation and mixed the dressing first with the cooked bulgur before adding the vegetables and herbs and it worked beautifully. 😊

I’m so happy to see this recipe on this app! Kısır is one of my favorite dishes. Pro tip from my Turkish mom: mix the “dressing” ingredients first in one bowl, then mix it with bulgur separately, before adding the herbs and veggies. This way the bulgur absorbs the “dressing” better. Then you can mix in the herbs and the veggies❤️

Hey there, Bensu, oh how lovely to hear about your experience with Kisir! Moms always have the best tips for traditional dishes. We'll try mixing the dressing ingredients first the next time we make this one - thanks for sharing ✨🫶
