Caffè Mocha Overnight Oats

Combining morning staples: coffee and breakfast. We added espresso to these overnight oats, which helps to highlight the chocolate flavour. It's creamy, delicious, and divine.

Is it possible to blend this up before refrigerating it? I'm thinking of the dates, i generally prefer them blended up and not eating bits of them, for a smoother texture. Will it make it thicker and needing more liquid? Also do you know about using steel cut oats? They are lower on glycerin index and I'm going to try and use them more but I know they take longer and need more liquid generally. Just wondering if there's an easy equation for them. Thank you!

Heyy Jacqui! Yep, you could blend the oat base if you’d like. It would be similar to our “Blended Raspberry & Chocolate Oats” recipe. You may need to add a bit more liquid depending on how powerful your blender is 🤗

As for steel-cut oats, yess we love them too! Although they’re quite different from rolled oats. Steel-cut oats aren't pre-cooked like rolled oats are and have much more fiber, so they're better suited for recipes like cooked porridge on the stove. We wouldn’t recommend substituting rolled oats for steel-cut oats. They’re amazing in recipes designed specifically for them, though, such as in our "Classic Creamy Steel-Cut Oatmeal" recipe. Hope this helps for now 🫶

Alright thank you!

I made these a couple days ago now...Offt, they were actually so good! I added a small amount of dark chocolate chips to the ONO mixture then melted plant based chocolate spread to drizzle ontop. The yoghurt topping was lush, I didn't use the full 1cup as I felt it was big enough without. I just used the choco yog mix+half the creamy then drizzled with choco spread.

Do you think because I use Naturya Cacao Powder for any chocolate ONO that may be why it is more on the bitter side than rich chocolate? I chose this type of Cacao powder one because it is natural but because I am gluten+dairy free it is a safe option especially good for baking chocolate cakes! The flavour it gives the cakes in comparison to regular coco powder...just unmatched 🤣

Heyy Kathryn, oou love the extra chocolate moment! And yes, I suspect you’re spot on with the cacao powder. Dutch-processed cocoa is treated to be less acidic, so it tastes smoother, a bit sweeter, and blends really nicely into things like yogurt and overnight oats. We often use it instead of general cacao or cocoa powder for a less bitter chocolatey flavour 🤎

If you stick with cacao, adding a touch more maple syrup or pairing it with melted chocolate like you did may help balance it out ✨

Thank you for a swift response! I will look for Dutch processed aswell and see the difference, will also try the extra maple! ❤️ hope yous have a fab weekend...I do hope more ONO flavours are to come! Carrot cake one would be so good aswell! Xx

Can we heat all the overnight oats from the recipes on the app in the morning before eating? Just asking as they have fruits and nut butter sometimes, I wasn't sure if we can heat those.

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 11, 2026, 8:33 p.m.

Heyy Vaishvi, yes, you can warm up most overnight oats in the morning if you prefer them heated 😊 The oats, fruit, and nut butters all heat up fine. If the recipe includes yogurt (like this one), you might prefer to warm just the oat base first and then add the yogurt and toppings afterward so they stay nice and creamy.

About 30 to 60 seconds in the microwave usually does the trick. If the oats get a bit thick after heating, you can stir in a splash of plant milk to loosen them up. Hope this helps!

Erica Axelson - Sept. 15, 2025, 3:38 p.m.

Could I switch the dates for something else? I never have dates at home.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 15, 2025, 5 p.m.

Hiii Erica, thanks so much for your interest in the overnight oats! Since the dates add both natural sweetness, you can swap the dates for other sweeteners you have at home. Some ideas include chopped dried prunes, figs, or a splash of maple syrup or agave to taste 😊

Would a pint jar be large enough?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 10, 2025, 3:16 a.m.

Hey there, Cindi, yes a pint jar (500 mL / 16 oz) is just the right size to hold everything, especially with the yogurt layer on top. Hope you love the overnight oats ☺️
