Directions
- Mash the bananas in a large bowl.
- Add all of the remaining ingredients and stir until well combined. If your batter seems too runny, let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
- Preheat a non-stick large pan over medium heat, and add some oil. When hot, dollop about 2 Tbsp of batter into the pan, using the back of your spoon to shape the batter into round pancake shapes.
- When lightly golden on the bottom, flip, and let cook on the other side.
- Add desired toppings, and enjoy!

These pancakes taste like banana bread, but in pancake form! I was just missing the walnuts and chocolate chips. I love that this recipe is also naturally gluten-free, so I didn’t need to convert anything.
I swapped the banana for 100g sweet potato puree. Worked well. Obviously less sweet. Three year old loved it. Does take a lot longer for the thicker batter to cook.

Made these today, I used chia seeds instead of flaxseeds and added some frozen wild blueberries to the batter.

Love these pancakes - I think I've already made them 5 times in the past two weeks for the family! If you have those free extra 15 minutes at home to make a 'special' breakfast - this is definitely it!
These are very adult-flavored, but oddly my 16 month old enjoyed them more than versions using other flours and sugar. I didn't have banana so added apple sauce. I also added more salt (a continuous need in PUL recipes). Enjoyed, will make again.
I added some grated apple into the pancake mixture and home made plum butter for topping 🙂

So good! Instead of pumkinspice I added a tiny bit of curcuma, black pepper, ginger and a bit of clove powder. Felt like eating christmas pancakes!

PUL used to have these exact pancakes in a baked version - please could you add that information in if at all possible? I can’t find the recipe. It did two things: avoided the stickiness and I could cook a batch all at once.

These are my favourite!! Here in Kenya we have a lot finger millet flour. I substituted the buck wheat flour with finger millet flour - can totally recommend!

The taste of banana with the buckwheat flour is really lovely! Cook very easily also. I replaced the cinnamon with a mix of spice i had which contains: cinnamon + cacao powder + nutmeg + ginger + cardamom.

I've tried it a couple of different ways, my favourite flavor is to leave out the pumpkin spice and add some blueberries or cocoa powder and chopped chocolate to make it a dessert.

Unfortunately, the recipe turned out a disaster. First of all the batter was not runny at all, it was very thick. Secondly, despite using a non-stick pan I wasn't able to flip the pancakes and they turned into a mess in the pan. Any suggestions?

unfortunately i wasnt able to make them not fall apart on the stove. ive used the exact measurements with oat milk, tried to make it thicker by using flax seed gel as was advised previously but they just burnt immediately. ive spent so much time grocery shopping and cooking ths with no result to even be able to eat… feeling discouraged

Love this recipe. Love most recipes you guys make. The only thing with this recipe is the amounts seem to be off. I have a large family and made what was supposed to be 36 pancakes but it only made 18. And they weren’t huge either. Same size as the pictures. Maybe because I used oat milk instead of soy? But I don’t think that should be an issue. Not a huge deal, I’ll just have to make a note to double it next time. :)

I used a 2/3 cup of applesauce after seeing Michelle's earlier comment as I really can't handle banana cooked into anything and added a bit of nutmeg instead of pumpkin spice, I'm not sure if I've ever seen pumpkin spice in Australia. Both substitutions worked a treat!

Great recipe! They are really delicious and easy to make. Makes me forget I am eating something healthy :D. I keep a stasher bag of frozen bananas because the recipe is best with extremely ripe bananas. I like to add quite some cinnamon in the mixture before I bake them.
Subbed for almond flour but didnt matter because these just didn’t work. I used my entire bowl of batter trying to make these and no amount of tweaking could get these to turn out. I tried low heat I tried high heat. I tried little batter I tried more. I switched pans. Tried olive oil, coconut oil and vegan butter. Different pans and spatulas. They fell apart each and every time. Not sure what step was done off camera to get them to turn out well.
I love buckwheat pancakes, but these were really hard to make. The kept sticking to my pan and fell apart. I’m determined to make this work, but it might take a little tinkering.

I'm in awe with this simple, fast & easy to make and very delicious pancake recipe! not only do they have a wonderful texture, taste amazing but are also adaptable. i only used 1 banana and substituted the rest with sugar free apple sauce and used an apple cake spice blend. then i filled (+ topped) two pancakes with vegan cheese and put some blueberries + raspberries into some of them and left the rest with just pure batter - all veeeryyyyy delicious! they're not that sweet which is why they go with every flavour direction (in my opinion). so, thank you for another incredibly satisfying recipe. you're the best 💚
