My toddlers, husband and I LOVE this recipe - and resounding 10/10!

I didn’t have an onion so I added a roasted red bell pepper and it worked out so well (in my humble opinion). I also added a generous amount of other seasonings (all purpose vegetable seasoning without salt, black pepper, coriander, onion powder, ground garlic/ginger/pimento mix) - I know it sounds like a lot but I promise it wasn’t as intense as it sounds.

Mmm sounds absolutely delicious, Dany! Love the creativity with the roasted red bell pepper and all those seasonings 😍

isabela - Feb. 16, 2025, 9:47 p.m.

I learned to trust the experts and follow the recipe. I used canned garbanzo beans (even though it strictly said not to use them)…. And well.. it is not good, the mixture is very wet and even after a gallon of flour it is still wet. Lesson learned! (I still ate the wet burger and flavour-wise it was good)

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 16, 2025, 10:37 p.m.

Hey Isabela, oh no, lesson learned the hard way! 😅 Canned chickpeas indeed don't offer the same taste and texture as dry chickpeas. We hope you enjoy the recipe with dry chickpeas in the future 💛

Barbara Maguire - Dec. 2, 2024, 7:54 a.m.

Wow. These are fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside even though I baked them oil free. They would be crispier im sure if cooked in oil but absolutely fine for us.
Doing these again . No need to look for another falafel recipe. This is it.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 2, 2024, 4:06 p.m.

Yay! We're so thrilled that the falafel burger recipe is being enjoyed, Barbara, thanks a bunch 🥰

Delicious ♡♡♡

Joleen Sandahl - June 20, 2024, 4:53 p.m.

I’m not sure where the tahini sauce is supposed to be used.🤷‍♀️
But, these are delicious!

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 21, 2024, 1:16 a.m.

Hi Joleen, the tahini sauce is meant to be a topping on the burger 🤗

Perrine - June 14, 2024, 7:27 p.m.

So simple and delicious ! Not the first time I try a veggie burger but definitely the best !

Cort - April 28, 2024, 3:22 a.m.

The best recipe I have made so far!! It satisfied my burger cravings!!

PUL small logo PUL Team - April 29, 2024, 2:10 a.m.

So happy to hear this, Cort!

Jude - March 28, 2024, 6:31 a.m.

This falafel recipe what such a success! It is now my favourite and to be prepared regularly.
I sprouted the chickpeas first and used about half the oil when frying. I had to use coriander powder and a little Old Bay spice instead of paprika, but it so worked beautifully. I will try them in my airfryer next time. Thankyou PUL

PUL small logo PUL Team - March 29, 2024, 6:43 p.m.

This is fantastic to hear, Jude! Sprouting the chickpeas adds a nutritious boost, and your adaptations sound delicious. Thank you for sharing your experience with the recipe 🤩

Maja - Jan. 31, 2024, 8:40 p.m.

Looking through the comments and my own doubts...would it be possible to specify whether 400g chickpeas is the weight before or after soaking? The difference is about double...thanks!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 1, 2024, 12:28 a.m.

Hey Maja! The weight is for dry chickpeas before they're soaked 😊

Anne-Marie - Dec. 19, 2023, 9:02 a.m.

Loved this recipe - very tasty. However, the mixture seemed really wet when I mixed it and I was worried that the Patties wouldn’t stay together. So I added a few more tablespoons of flour which then made the mixture more cakey/less fluffy. Did I make a mistake in the recipe? Should I have dried the chickpeas better? Or maybe my onion was too big and it added too much moisture? Is the mixture supposed to feel like it might fall apart in the pan? In the photos the mixture just looked like much dryer than mine.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Dec. 20, 2023, 8:01 a.m.

Glad you enjoyed the falafel burger, Anne-Marie, thanks for sharing your experience with it! The wet mixture was likely due to excess moisture from the chickpeas. A large onion could indeed do it too. If you give the recipe another try, patting the chickpeas well can help remove excess moisture, and we've heard a few reviews about the mixture being wet so we've added a note in the direction to add a bit more flour if needed and to let the mixture sit for 10 minutes - this should help it firm up a bit 😊

Danielle - Dec. 4, 2023, 4:10 a.m.

This falafel burger recipe was incredibly delicious! They came together easily and cooked well. So happy that we have extras for tomorrow and maybe even the next day. I will definitely make this recipe again and again.

Awe we're smiling from ear to ear, Danielle, thank you! Enjoy the leftovers 🤩

Sooo good you can't just eat one!!

Natalie - Sept. 30, 2023, 3:16 a.m.

Super tasty and easy recipe! I swapped the tahini for tzatziki and also added hummus. Thank you so much for this yummy recipe, PUL team!

Ilse - Aug. 21, 2023, 5:31 p.m.

Do you recommend removing the skin of the chickpeas?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 22, 2023, 6:53 p.m.

Hey Ilse, we enjoy the texture and fiber that the chickpea skin offers so we personally keep it on. You're welcome to remove it though if you'd prefer 🤗

Andrea B - Aug. 7, 2023, 4:23 p.m.

This was amazing and so delicious. I will be making these again. I tagged you guys on Instagram with my finished product. Dry chick peas are a game changer. I have made falafel before and sometimes they were a bit wet. These were not. So very pleased. My friends are tired of me talking about you 🤣🤣

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 7, 2023, 6:58 p.m.

Haha you're the best, Andrea, thanks for being our cheerleader! So glad the falafel burgers were enjoyed! 💃🏻

Andrea B - Aug. 6, 2023, 2:24 a.m.

Question: Do I need to sit my beans in the fridge while soaking?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 6, 2023, 10:02 a.m.

Hi Andrea, either is fine, in the fridge or on the counter if it's just overnight soaking :)

Steven E - July 23, 2023, 3:38 p.m.

I’ve always been nervous about using non-boiled chickpeas. Does the heat get high enough with this type of cooking to denature the toxins? I admit I’m a little paranoid with pulses 😆

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 25, 2023, 7:08 a.m.

Hey Steven, soaking the chickpeas in combination with frying the patties should be enough to rid of potentially harmful substances. If you prefer, perhaps you could cook the patties in heat for longer in the oven? 😊

Nadia - July 18, 2023, 5:36 a.m.

These falafel burgers were super simple and absolutely delicious!! Can’t wait to have them again for leftovers tomorrow night. ☺️

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 20, 2023, 8:32 a.m.

So happy the burgers were enjoyed, Nadia!

Adrienne - July 7, 2023, 4:41 a.m.

These were so delicious! I’m so excited I have a freezer full for meals later in the week😄 I had to add about 2 extra tablespoons of flour to really make them stick together, so I’d recommend cooking one as a test to see how wet your mix is.

I also tried to make the tzatziki sauce, but got plain but not unsweetened (!!) yogurt by accident. So I added grated cucumber and dill to some of the tahini sauce, which was really great in a pinch.

PUL small logo PUL Team - July 8, 2023, 7:28 p.m.

Hey Adrienne, thanks a bunch for taking the time to share your experience with the recipe! Your homemade tzatziki sauce sauce lovely 😃

Chiara Negri - June 27, 2023, 7:58 p.m.

Nikki - June 21, 2023, 6:32 a.m.

All five family members loved this. We made it traditional style with pita. I also made your tzatziki sauce, and it was a hit. I wish I would have taken a picture. Next time, the kids asked for it to be on the monthly menu!

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 21, 2023, 8:50 a.m.

Awe it means so much, Nikki, I'm so glad the whole family enjoyed it so much. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share! 🤗

Nikki - June 20, 2023, 5:40 p.m.

I am going to make this tonight, so not sure if I will get a response in time, but I just wanted to clarify that I soak dry chickpeas, then dry them off, then put them in the food processor, no cooking them?

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 21, 2023, 1:21 a.m.

Hey Nikki, we hope you enjoy the recipe! Indeed we dry the soaked chickpeas but we don't need to cook them before blending. They'll cook with the rest of the patty mixture 🙂

Nikki - June 21, 2023, 1:56 a.m.

Thank you! This app is awesome ✨

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 21, 2023, 7:18 p.m.

Yayy so glad you're enjoying it 🥰

TT - June 9, 2023, 10:01 p.m.

These falafel burgers were the best out of any recipe I have ever attempted to make! The only problem I had was that the mix turned out a little moist and burgers didn’t hold together well. I think because the chick peas were still wet? Possibly dry off the soaked chickpea’s before adding to the food processor? Also I had attempted to use almond flour instead of wheat flour. I added a little wheat flour to the mix and that worked.

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 10, 2023, 10:13 p.m.

Hey TT, thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe - I'm so glad it was enjoyed! We'll add a note to the steps so others pat the chickpeas dry to remove any excess moisture. Almond flour tends to have a different texture and binding ability than wheat flour which could have also been the culprit. If you prefer to use almond flour, you can try adding a binder such as more ground flaxseed or chickpea flour to help hold the burgers together. You'll see in step 4 there's also a note to wait 10 minutes if the mixture isn't holding together, so that's something that might help too if you didn't give it a try. We hope this helps for now 🙂
