Make your own
Directions
- Line a baking tray and preheat the oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C)*.
- Add all the dry ingredients to a large bowl and mix.
- Add the wet ingredients to a small food processor and blend until smooth**.
- Add the date mixture to the bowl and mix to combine.
- Spread the granola evenly on the baking tray. Bake on the centre rack of the oven for 25 - 30 minutes, stirring once or twice throughout.
- When the granola is lightly golden, remove from the oven. When fully cooled, transfer to an airtight container or large glass storage jar. Enjoy!

- ** Tahini consistency can vary between brandsβsome are thick, while others are thin. If your tahini is on the thicker side, consider adding a small splash more water to reach the desired consistency. It was good, but a bit weird with the tahini in my opinion. I'll probably try substituting for peanut butter or something else, although I'm sure the tahini is part of what makes it so healthy?
This granola is so yummy! I customize it with my favorite nuts/ seeds and substitute pecan butter instead of tahini. So easy to make and so good!

Hey! Tried the recipe tonight. The 3 tbsp of water to blend the dates is too little. I needed more than that. I added til I got the creamy consistency though.
dates + tahini are my favourite pair so i knew i would love this!! i used a mix of oats, spelt + rye flakes + it was really good! next time i'm going to add cardamom! thank you <3

Addicting!!!! I soaked my dates in boiling water for a few minutes while I got the other ingredients ready. I also added 2 tsp of coconut sugar .. since it was already so healthy π. I making a triple batch now to share with family! Fresh berries, yogurt and this granola combo.. *chefβs kiss*
Being new to this way of cooking and eating I found this to be a little bland with unsweetened Almond milk. I would probably add some maple syrup to the date mix in the food processor stage. I am, however, going to be trying the other granola recipes you have first.
Simple words of caution: donβt ever attempt to prolong the baking time OR change the temperature. I burned mine granola. π₯²
Nevertheless: Simple to make!! Will make again, but this time I will follow the instructions π

I used peanut butter rather than tahini, and this granola is so delicious! But I recommend using a thinner peanut butter instead of thick, because itβs hard to blend with the dates. My daughter loves it! Highly recommended for such a healthy granola!

We loved this granola so much!! Our blender sucks though, so we had to add more water and top it with some of the date pieces instead of having them all in the tahini mixture. Would it be possible to make these in bar form?

The bigger clusters were chewy and the smaller ones were crunchy. After it had cooled down, I decided to put it back in the oven for a few more minutes at a lower temp (~150*c) to make it more dry. I think some clusters were too big. Next time I'll break it up a bit. Any other suggestions?

This is the third granola recipe I have tried from PUL (I did the one with fig and the other one with double chocolate). Unfortunately, this is my least favourite one, it didnβt come out as good as the other ones.

Love this recipe. Always turns out delicious, unless I forget it too much in the oven, then I am not so happy.
I tend to switch the nuts as I donβt always have everything on hand, or replace the tahini with peanut/almond butter. I also like to add 3-4 tbs of cacao powder for a chocolatey taste. So itβs versatile, easy to make and it lasts me for 2-3 weeks. And healthy!!! π

The first granola recipe Iβve ever made. Itβll be the only recipe I ever try. Sooo tasty! I soaked my dates in some hot water which helped the blending process. I also added a splash of vanilla to the date mixture. Once it was ready I ate so much of it, warm, right out of the oven. (No shame). Thanks for this recipe!

LOVE making this granola! Iβve made it more than a handful of times now, doubling the recipe so that I have enough in stock. Itβs so easy to swap things in and out with what I have on-hand, and itβs great knowing that there isnβt any added sugar, just the sugar from the fruits π.

I think this is a great recipe but did have a difficult time blending the dates and tahini. Is there a trick to deal with the constant sticking? I used more water than the recipe called for.
I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't very crunchy either...next time I will perhaps leave it for a few minutes longer. I enjoy the taste though, and think that the dates and tahini make a great alternative combination! π

I have an oven which minimal temperature is 170Β°C (not 150): how long do you advise me to bake? I cannot turn it lower, it's preset at min 170Β°C-max 225Β°C.
Secondly, would other types of dates work out too (Deglet-nour from Tunisia or mazafati from Iran)?

Have been doing this recipe for years and it never disappoints. I bring I every morning to work to eat with my yogurt and I literally have colleagues stealing it. Everyone loves it! I sometimes use date syrup when I donβt have dates on hand and it works just fine.

The best granola ever! I add some chia seeds, walnuts, pistachios, wax seeds. With coconut milk or kefir and a kiwi aside, it has become our favourite breakfast
I make this recipe every week. It's just so amazing! Sometimes I even have to double the recipe, because everybody stepping by just wants to put there hands in it! This recipe gives such a good base to experiment with by adding different nuts and spices or some puffed durum wheat or puffed rice in the end or add different dried fruits. With some warm berries it's just heaven. And its a great sustainable present too!

This recipe is so good that it has become a staple at my house! I make it weekly! However, I have made one change to it that I think makes it even better. Instead of using 3 cups of oatmeal, I use 2 1/4. That allows the date and tahini mixture to cover it even more thoroughly.

An great recipe, absolutely delicious! I usually use maple syrup for granolas but after trying this recipe, I love using the purΓ©ed dates now, itβs just sweet enough. As a personal preference, I double the cinnamon and salt, I like to feel the spice and the extra touch of salt helps all the ingredients sing. I also add the dried fruits after the granolaβs cooled, no need to bake as theyβre already dry. Thank you for this recipe!

Yesterday I tried the recipe for granola and was absolutely thrilled.
I don't really like the slightly bitter taste of tahini, but I still had a jar that needed to be used up. So I tried this recipe and I am extremely happy with the result. The dates, the cinnamon and the tahini paste make a sweet, but not too sweet, mixture that you could honestly just roll into balls and eat like that.
My tips: The date paste, mixed with the oat flakes and nuts turns it into a very sticky mass that you should tap rather than spread with short movements on the tray. And when baking, I turned the temperature down a little so that the granola could dry out well and become crunchy without turning too brown. I added the sultanas only 5 minutes before the end, otherwise they always get too dark for me. You can also halve the recipe if you are 1 or 2 people. It's still a big portion if you use it as a topping for something.
As a pure muesli, it is too sweet for me, so I mix it with coarse oat flakes - with fresh blueberries it is a dream. The recipe is quick enough that you can easily make the granola fresh when it runs out. All in all, it's the best granola I've had so far, because it has the most complex taste. : )

This granola is really easy to make and tastes wonderful with the combination of dates and tahini. It is also a good way to use up all the backing ingrediencies you might have left over, like walnuts or almonds. With this recipe you can nicely substitute with what you have at home. Depending on your oven settings you should check more often to get a golden but not overly crispy result.

Your website and videos are the best I've found. After years of being a vegetarian, I feel like I've learned so much about having a more nutritionally balanced diet from your videos and notes. I appreciate that the recipes are doable, meaning that they call for ingredients I'm likely to have in my pantry. I also like that I can have a stock of ingredients used for multiple recipes.
My question has to do with Medjool dates vs. Deglet dates. I usually buy deglets because they are less expensive. The recipes turn out satisfying and tasty, but I do wonder at the difference. Is there a preference for Medjool?
This is an AMAZING recipe as it is so easy to make. And in my humble opinion, it takes much better than any store bought granola.
I love cinnamon so aded an extra 1/4 tsp. And I added about 1/2 tsp of pure vanilla extract to the date, tahini and water mixture, which creates a caramel taste (and smell). So good!! And so nice to know every single ingredient in the granola and know that there is no oil or refined sugar. Thank you!!!

I just made this yesterday! Itβs so good, and the tahini really adds a yummy depth of flavor. However, once stored, it lost some of its crispiness. I wonder if it just wasnβt fully 100% cool when I stored it (it seemed cool.) So good!

I should have reviewed this a long time ago. This is the best granola recipe out there! I make it all the time. Itβs super tasty, the texture is incredible and its nutritious. My go to breakfast again and again and again. I usually make a huge batch and place it in an airtight jar. I serve it with Oatly gurt and sprinkle som goji berries and hemp seeds on top for extra goodness.

This has become my go-to granola recipe! I love that you can change it up so easily by swapping out different nuts. I use an equal split if tahini and peanut butter - the grandkids love it. I give all my kids a big jar for Christmas, and it's always gone before new year's.

Delicious! I used California dates, and they worked great. I was concerned that the 1/2 c serving size was very small, since I'm used to eating 1/2 c oatmeal cooked--at least double that 1/2 c serving size for breakfast. However, I tried a 1/2 c serving with plain yogurt and fresh berries, and to my surprise, after eating my 1/2 c serving, I was full. I'm now planning to make a double batch of the granola, now to be my new staple breakfast food.

I did combine both this recipe and the chocolate granola one i just added coco powder to the dates and tahini paste and FOR some reason it tasted like nutella to me and my little brother liked it . Although this granola requires slightly more time than your other recipes, I absolutely love the result. Maybe Iβve said it before, but I think this healthy option is a favourite. The date and tahini mixture does wonders: it really creates the characteristic crunchy lumps of caramelised ingredients as in store bought granolas. Importantly, it tastes so good!!! Love the nuts and I canβt wait to try this recipe with almond/macadamia and pecan/cashews. Figs instead of raisins works wellπ
Iβve tried it with fruit and coconut yoghurt so far, but Iβll put it on PUL mango/peach smoothie for the weekend
This is completely delicious. I love it. I've made it every couple of weeks, switching up the nuts depending what I have. I usually switch the cranberries for sour cherries which elevates it to another level! Thanks Sadia, I love all your recipes that I've tried - this is definitely the one I've made the most. SO good.

This recipe has become a part of our regular rotation. It tastes delicious and is super simple to make, plus the recipe is malleable to whatever nuts/seeds/other add ins you happen to have on hand. In my oven, it usually needs closer to 35-40 minutes.
I grew up in Syria where they make "Halawa", a traditional non-vegan dessert made of Tahini and date molasses with pistachios on top. The tahini, dates and nuts in this granola made me feel that I was eating a Halawa-flavored breakfast - the child in me is so happy thanks to you, Sadia!

That tahini and date mixture...OMG, I could eat just that and be a happy girl! Love this granola! I use to make my own but got lazy with kids, work, etc. The store bought stuff is full of refined sugar and stuff I don't want. This recipe is so easy and customizable. I used pecans instead of cashews, added a bit more cinnamon, and some nutmeg. Smells so good and tastes even better! Thank you!

I agree with the otherβBEST GRANOLA ever! Using a seed, or tahini, instead of usual coconut oil and dates instead of usual honey or maple syrup make this higher in protein and minerals. I also use a tad bit less dry mix and make granola bars and take to the ice rink when I judge. Keeps my energy up and mind sharp for long competitions.. And it is a great recovery food after an intense morning of ice skating βΈ for myself. This granola is on REPEAT and always available in my house.βΈππΌ
Best granola recipe I've tried, honestly! The mixture of tahini and dates give it an amazing taste. I did it with walnuts instead of cashews and I took of the raisins and the coconut (so you can always adapt / simplify according to what you like or what you have at home). Highly recommend, and I'll deffo try some other granola recipes from PUL
These taste amazing! I'll give them another try though as I hadn't seen that the recipe stated 'old-fashioned' rolled oats and I used normal ones instead. So as I mixed the date mixture in, the oats kind of disintegrated and almost turned into oat flour and I ended up with something closer to granola bars... It's still really nice but will try again!

I make this every week without fail and it always disappears way too soon. Of all the PUL recipes I've made for friends, this is the one that gets the most raised eyebrows about the genius combo of dates and tahini! I recommend it to everyone. I love this recipe! Iβve been making it regularly for over a year now. I have it for breakfast every morning sprinkled over vegan natural yoghurt and a sliced up banana.
Depending on which brand of tahini I use I sometimes have to add extra water to the tahini mix because it comes out very thick.
Enjoyed it very much, although the taste is a bit different every time I make it. But that is probably due to me and not the recipe. Lol.

This is by far the BEST clean granola. Itβs highly customizable with no added sugars or gums you often find in store brands. This is a staple in our house and something I also gift often with a nice mason jar and twine-itβs always a hit!

Love this granola, I was looking for granola that didnt have sugar or sryup in it. Found this recipe and it was perfect. Lightly sweetened! I don't have a food processor but a Vitamix, was a little challenging to get out but it worked. Gifted some to my in-laws and they have requested more! Once I paired this granola with your chocolate chia pudding and it was great!!!
Tried this recipe for the first time yesterday and really like it. I think I needed to bake mine longer (was at the max 30 minutes), as the granola still came out a little on the softer side instead of crisp. Either that or I need to separate it onto two baking sheets. In any case, I love the tahini/date combo in replacement of the usual oil/sweetener. I can definitely see the potential in this in using other nut or seed butters in place of the tahini for a change, too.
Since you're using a food processor for this, I recommend just chopping your nuts in the food processor before making the tahini/date mixture. Makes for quick work on the nuts and a few less dishes.
Didn't have raisins so used a combo of chopped dried apricots, dried cherries, and dried blueberries. Thanks for the tip on adding the dried fruit after baking so you don't end up with little fruit rocks!
Hi, Iβve made this before and it was absolutely delicious! I wanted to make it a second time but my food processor broke. Do you think I could make the date paste with a juicer?
I have been using this recipe every few weeks for over a year with a few tweaks!!! It is truly the healthiest, clumpiest, most delicious granola I've been able to achieve :) The only changes I make are: Β·Using 200g dates (rather than 175g) Β·Using 1/2 cup or so less dry ingredients Β·Baking for about 15-20 minutes longer than the recipe states

Best granola recipe ever, full stop. Chunky, customisable, moderately sweet, and so easy to make! Love it with cacao powder and chocolate chips instead of raisins. Planning to apply tahini+dates mixture to all the other granola variations from PUL instead of maple syrup from now on, because you know.... these chunks! :D
Defenitely a time-consuming granola to make, but worth it all the way. I make this quite regularly as I easily eat two servings a day. In fact this is the only granola recipe I make, this is the crunchiest experience.

This granola is my go-to. I love that itβs only sweetened with dates, and it makes such good, delicious chunks. I top my smoothies with it, or eat pack some for work as a snack.

that's it! I'm never going back to store-bought granola. this is the best granola ever! I used a mix of peanut butter powder and peanut butter and I could not stop eating this and it had big clusters! Since then I use the date and peanut butter technique all of the time. I'm thinking of adding cacao powder and cranberries to make black forest granola. Basically, to end off, this granola never fails to impress, it's crispy, crunchy, and perfect.
I have eaten this granola every day for the last year. Not an exaggeration. I have given it as gifts on multiple occasions. I serve it to guests, and they always ask for the recipe. I cannot state how much I love this granola. I would name my first child after this granola.
It is softer than any other granola you would buy in the store, and the fact that it is sweetened by dates makes it healthy and delectable. When I eat it, I feel like I'm getting away with a crime.
I customize with whatever nuts or dried fruit I have. My current batch has cranberries, walnuts, and pecans. The standard batch lasts me two weeks, and I eat it on top of plant-yogurt or a smoothie every morning. (That's without doubling the recipe as it appears on this page.). I recommend adding a little more water to the date/tahini mixture so that it is easier manipulate.
I hope you try this recipe. If you enjoy it as much as I do, we can all name our children "PUL Healthiest Ever Granola".

I love love love this granola recipe! I make mine with hazelnuts, pecans, and deglet dates and I swap out th sunflower seeds for some quinoa. I gave jars away as Christmas presents last year and it was very well received βΊοΈ.
Very healthy granola but I prefer your almond mango granola more.

Thank you so much for this recipe! I mistakenly overlooked the ingredients prior to purchasing them at the store and now I have roasted nuts & seeds.... How should I go about modifying the recipe to use the roasted nuts/seeds?
Based on the recipe, it seems that during the baking process the raw nuts/seeds get roasted while the liquid in the granola mixture evaporates, leaving behind beautiful granola clusters.
Can I use normal rolled oats(more processed) instead of old fashioned ones?

I started making this around April last year and believe it or not, Iβm still making it now! Never ever bought tahini and dates in my life prior to trying this recipe. I also bought a food processor for this haha.
In my case, use dried cranberries as a substitute for raisins. If Iβm feeling a little π, I add just a little bit of vanilla sugar before serving to make it more dessert-y! Still better than going for a sugary cake I think! :)

Love the healthy recipe. I saw you had another granola using brown sugar. Have you ever experimented w date sugar? On this one, I am confused though, why are you using raw nuts but roasted seeds? Does raw vs roasted matter here?
This is buy far the best granola I've ever made! I've made it hundreds of times and it is sooo good every time! It has the perfect balance of sweetness with a wide variety of nuts and seeds. And the tahini and date mixture makes the best combo! I've sent the recipe to so many people and they all loved it. 100% recommended!

Hi PUL team, I have a silly question about the dates in this recipe. There is the little star comment saying "If dry, soak in warm water until softened, drain." Does it mean that I can use dried dates? (Maybe it's just my English that's lacking here, so if that's the case, I am sorry). Also, it is a rule that Medjool dates are always sold as a fresh fruit rather than dried fruit? I finally found Medjool dates on one website (Amazon would be very inconvenient for my location), but they are under the section of "dried fruit". There is a mention of them being "sun dried". I am really confused, please help me, I really want to make this recipe work. Love you, Anna.
