Are these more a meal replacement or a snack? When I put even 1/2 a serving in my sons nourish plan he always goes way over in fat and protein. Should I give him even just 1/4 maybe? Or have as a breakfast?
PUL Team - March 29, 2025, 11:01 p.m.
Hey Jacqui, we prefer these bars as a snack. If your son's nourish plan is exceeding fat and protein goals with a ½ serving, reducing to ¼ is an option. Perhaps you can pair the bar with a side of fresh fruit for extra satisfaction 🥰
That said, it’s also totally okay to go over targets sometimes. We don’t have to be perfect with the nourish method everyday. It’s meant to be a flexible framework and guide, allowing you to adapt it to your personal needs and preferences. Happy cooking❣️

We do have some days we go over or under for sure, but he has high cholesterol and diabetes at 11. So while I *thought * we were eating pretty well before, i guess not. So I'm trying really hard to plan and stick within the guidelines. He only gets a few minutes snack time anyway and then he gets about 20 min lunch. It's unfortunate but that's how it is here. So I'm trying to give him quick and nourishing things at school. Thank you

The recipe says hemp seeds, but is it better to use hulled (shelled) or unhulled? Many thanks
PUL Team - March 4, 2025, 3:46 p.m.
Hey Lesley, we always use hulled hemp seed hearts since they blend more smoothly into the mixture. Hope you enjoy making the bars! 😊

Fabulous, thanks for letting me know. I’m looking forward to giving this recipe a try 😋

This was sooo good ! It really does help with sugar cravings 1 bar is so filling and satisfying and what’s lovely about it you cannot taste the chickpeas but still get all the nutrients 💗🌸

Delicious - these definitely didn’t last long in my fridge 😆! I didn’t have any hemp seeds or maple syrup, so I just added in more nuts/seeds and used date syrup instead - they still turned out fab. Thank you!

Yay we're so glad that the energy bars were enjoyed with the substitutions, Catherine!

I have a lot of saved recipe with peanut butter, is it possible to swap the peanut butter to hazelnut butter or almond butter to change a little? I don’t want to be bored of it! Thanks a lot 😍
PUL Team - Sept. 8, 2024, 3:16 p.m.
Hey Marion, for sure! You can swap another nut or seed butter in place of peanut butter. Another fun option is sunflower seed butter. Happy cooking and baking 🤗
Terhi Stratton - Sept. 3, 2024, 1:44 a.m.
These are yummy! We have sunflower seed allergy in the family, so I replaced them with walnuts. Also I only had unsalted dry-roasted peanuts, so I made sure to sprinkle some of the suggested coarse salt on the top. It gave the bars a nice touch and bit of contrast in flavor. Thanks for the recipe! (By the way, is "cooked" chickpeas the same as canned chickpeas? I hope so, because canned was what I used. ☺️
PUL Team - Sept. 5, 2024, 3:39 a.m.
We're so glad you enjoyed the recipe and made it your own with the substitutions, Terhi! Canned chickpeas are pre-cooked, but you can also cook dried chickpeas yourself to use as cooked chickpeas 😊 Thanks for sharing your experience!
Terhi Stratton - Sept. 6, 2024, 12:59 a.m.
Thanks for explaining the chickpeas. 🙂 I usually cook my own chickpeas , so next time I will use them! By the way, the bars are even better the next day. It's hard not to eat half a pan at one go. 🤭

Hey, looks delish! Can you bake them before adding chocolate? If so, how long / temperature? I’d want some crispy texture ;)
PUL Team - Sept. 4, 2024, 7:19 p.m.
Hiya Alice, you can bake them before adding the chocolate. Perhaps you could try baking at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes, or until they’re golden and crispy. Let us know how it goes if you experiment with the recipe 🤗
Jess - Oct. 1, 2024, 5:52 p.m.
Just made these per the original instructions but I would like to know how they turned out cooked! Let us know:)
