For someone with diabetes 2 is this too much sugar with that much syrup? Would love to make these for my sons Lunch but I'm hesitant. Does it balance out with the other ingredients? Can I use something else or lessen the syrup? Thank you!

Hey Jacqui! These bars do contain some natural and added sugars, although the fiber from oats, flaxseeds, and figs helps slow down sugar absorption. You could experiment with reducing the maple syrup or swapping part of it for mashed banana or unsweetened applesauce for a lower-sugar option. Pairing the bar with a protein source like unsweetened soy yogurt or a handful of nuts can also help promote steadier blood sugar levels.
As an alternative, you may enjoy our "Chewy No-Bake Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Oat Bars" which are naturally sweetened with just dates 🤗✨

Thank you so much! I have made the date ones and I don't think i did it right because it was like just dates lol. But maybe i can try this with less dates? Or less syrup. Thank you so much for the advice!

Such a great recepie, very quick too. I don’t think I’ll buy an oat bar again who knew it was this simple!

Brit here! Used a mix of golden syrup and treacle (molasses) instead of maple. Worked a treat!

These are such delicious, filling bars! They do come out a bit soft though, so I recommend keeping them in the freezer instead of the fridge to help the bars stay a bit more solid.

I had to immediately jump on and rate this recipe. I love it!! At first I kept double checking that they didn't need to be baked- after refrigerating, they are not messy and pack great in a snack bag. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Delicious snack! I used cranberry instead of figs. They're a bit crumbly, so next time I'll add a little more of the wet ingredients.

These are so easy to make. They don't require too many ingredients & I like that I can switch our the dried figs for when I don't have them. They are delicious! My kids love them.

Delicious! Super easy, fast and surprisingly filling. I had to sub dates for figs - turned out perfect. These didn’t last long at all, grandkids loved them. Suggest making a double batch and freezing half. You’ll need it!

Woop woop! So happy that the bars were enjoyed, Susan, thank you 😃
Neen - Dec. 6, 2023, 11:40 a.m.
Omg this is so delicious! I also tried a couple of variations based on what I had at home. I swapped ground flax seeds for ground chia seeds; reduced the amount of peanut butter and added condensed coconut oil (very smooth and buttery); I also added some ground roasted nuts; I crumbled some dark chocolate bar I had 👀 For the rest I followed the recipe step by step. It's instantly my fave

So happy it was enjoyed, Neen, thank you for sharing the variation ideas! 🤗
Bree - Dec. 4, 2023, 3:10 a.m.
These are perfection!! I didn’t have any flaxseeds or figs, so I subbed them with psyllium husk and hemp hearts, and also added raisins! Can’t wait to make these again and again.

Yum! Thanks for sharing your twist with the no-bake granola bars, Bree, it's so appreciated 🥰

Definitely wait till the wet ingredients cool completely because I have some melted chocolate chips now, very easy to make and tastes great! Substituted figs for dates
Taylor - Sept. 29, 2023, 6:43 p.m.
These are DELICIOUS! I didn’t have figs on hand so I swapped in an equal amount of chia seeds instead and they turned out so well!
