I was all ready to make this only to discover I only had cannellini beans, and just over a tablespoon of almond butter.
I wanted to make a double batch as well 🫣

So I used the white beans anyway and much less than the almond butter required for the double batch.
I did not double the baking powder after seeing comments elsewhere about that.

It worked out delicious and unless I made a black bean batch to try next to it side by side, I cannot taste the difference! Kids and hubby are happily eating it none the wiser.

I did add an extra tablespoon of cocoa to compensate for colour, though I'm not sure that was necessary.
I also sprinkled with sugar on top as my chocolate was *Very* dark and overall it was not a sweet wet dough at all. The sugar addition is just enough to compensate.

I subbed sunflower seeds butter instead of almond butter and hemp seeds instead of walnut to keep it nut free for our daughter's daycare lunches. It stayed gooey in the center pieces. May need to cook for longer. 🍫

From a black bean skeptic to a lover— this was a pleasant surprise! One brownie can be incredibly filling, so these can last you a few days. Can’t taste the black beans but you can always add more chocolate chunks if you’re fearful. Blending it well avoids any risk of bean-texture, too.

Hiya Adeline, we're so glad the kiddos are enjoying the brownies! To improve the crumbly texture, you can try increasing the almond butter slightly or adding a tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with three tablespoons of water to help bind the ingredients together better. You could also try baking the brownie for less long, so the texture will be less dry (and crumbly). 😊

Hard not to eat the entire dough before baking - can definitely recommend! I just have a gas oven so in case you’re wondering: top rack (as far as it gets from the flame below) full gas, 27 mins :)

Hey there, Lae, we haven't test it out but we imagine you could! One idea is once cooled completely, place them in an airtight container separated by parchment paper, and store in the freezer. When ready to enjoy, thaw at room temperature or gently reheat 🤗

Have been looking for a really good vegan brownie recipe that doesn’t use any oils and can easily be made gluten-free. I was skeptical at first because of the black beans, but these are the BEST BROWNIES I’ve ever had. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
Chocolate forward but not overly sweet. Definitely for people who like fudgy brownies more than cakey brownies.

This was the first time I tried black bean brownies. Had cooked the beans from scratch with just a tiny bit of salt (usually I also add pepper and 2 bay leaves). I was looking for a more whole food plant based leaning recipe that still sounded luxurious and this was what I decided to make. The brownies turned out perfect - moist, rich, chocolatey, sweet (but not in your face sweet), satisfying. And most importantly: Husband and 8 yo loved them. Definitely going on heavy rotation in our house.

These are tasty. I did make a few mistakes like I didn’t blend enough so it’s a bit beanie 🤣🤣. I love the flavor and that they are not super sweet. I will make these again. As an aside I am not a baker and was struggling because I didn’t have a 1/8 measuring spoon… I Google and I’m not ashamed. I made it 🤣🤣

Hey Robyn, oh no! Perhaps too many oats were added? In case you used the cup measurements, it may help to ensure that the oats aren't too packed in the cup, but rather, gently spooned into the measuring cup and levelled. Measuring in grams, if possible, should yield the best results. It might also help to check your oven settings. We use conventional setting (top and bottom heating). In case you used a fan-forced setting, that can also cause things to dry out. I hope this helps! 😊

This dessert really was a hit! It was extremely easy to make, nutritious and chocolatey. I combined peanut butter with pistachio butter and then added some pecans for extra crunch. I made 14 servings for my research group and in 30 minutes it was all gone. I will definitely try out other recipes and explore the app in more detail.❤️
