Celeriac, also known as celery root, knob celery, and turnip-rooted celery, is a flavourful but often "forgotten" vegetable. The banana blossom on the other hand is growing in popularity, with its flaky texture of fish. In our opinion, the sweet nutty flavour of celeriac and the smokey banana blossom just go incredibly well together!

The soup wasn't bad, but nothing exceptional, either. I guess if you have a celeriac and several leeks laying around you can try it out. But I'm not a fan of the banana blossom. It was chewy and simply unnecessary. Some fried smoked tofu would go better here, in my opinion.

This was a really good, easy soup. I did not make the banana blossoms. I used turnip and celeriac from my farm box. I only used 1 T of mild chickpea miso, and to reduce the fat, I blended 1 T unsweetened coconut flakes with 1 cup oat milk to replace the coconut milk. I would make this soup again, especially on a chilly autumn day like today.

I was really surprised by this recipe, the creamy soup has that herbal note from the celeriac and it is lovely with the smokey flavour of the banana blossom. Definitely wouldn't have put this together, but it's a winner! I think there might be a missing bit of garlic in the ingredients list for the soup, as it is in the recipe in the 'make it' section. I popped in a couple of cloves. I'll definitely make this again!
