This green smoothie is creamy, refreshing, and packed with nourishing ingredients, but still mild enough for even green smoothie beginners. The frozen banana adds natural sweetness and creaminess, while kale and spinach bring a boost of leafy greens without overpowering the flavour. A splash of vanilla and a dollop of coconut yogurt round it out into something that tastes tropical. It’s perfect for busy mornings or pre-workout fuel.

Yum! This was so refreshing and delicious. Substituted prunes and a little honey for dates, and oat milk instead of coconut milk as that’s what we had on hand. Great way to use up old greens.

I don’t know why this recipe is on the budget filter. Of course in every country different things are cheap. But in Europe (where this app is developed) and I think in many other countries hemp seeds, Medjoul dates, coconut yogurt are quite fancy and definitely more on the expensive side 🤔😕

Hey Clare, thanks so much for sharing this! You’re absolutely right that ingredient costs vary a lot from place to place. For our budget filter, we don’t look at the price of individual items (since they’re sold in different package sizes around the world). Instead, we consider things like the price per serving, the total cost of the recipe as written, and the number of ingredients. Then we compare recipes within their own category (for example, breakfasts to other breakfasts but not breakfasts to drinks), and roughly the bottom 30% are marked as budget-friendly.
I hope that helps explain how we determine the filter! That said, your point is super valuable, in the future, we may exclude recipes with certain ingredients that tend to be pricey in many regions. We’ll keep your feedback in mind as we continue improving this feature ☺️
