Hey friend! Using cooked beetroot makes it easier to blend smoothly and gives a slightly sweeter, mellow flavour compared to raw beets. Raw beets can be a bit tougher and more earthy in taste 🙂

Do you have the measurement for the beets? Sometimes my grocery store has very big beets and sometimes tiny beets. Would be helpful to have that. Thank you!

I loved it! My 2 year old did as well. I didn’t have almond butter so I substituted with sunflower butter. I’m definitely making this one again.

It was easy to make, but the combination of fruits and veggies did not work for my palette. There was no harmony and the aftertaste was too off😖. I was sad that this recipe does not work for me, as I have tried many of your smoothie recipes with beetroot and/or spinach with good smoothie bowl experiences.

In case it helps, kale can contribute to a bitter taste, especially if the fibrous stems are not entirely removed. Ensuring you use only the tender leaves might help balance the flavours and give a smoother aftertaste. Had to use frozen spinach instead of kale but the smoothie turned out great and was very filling. Loved the taste of the yogurt in combination with the berries and the earthy taste of the beet. Will definitely try this recipe again to see how it turns out with the kale:)

I think this smoothie will depend a lot upon what ingredients you personally use and if you’re someone that’s okay with a strong vegetable-y after taste. I followed the recipe and my smoothie turned out a really nasty color and smelled so strong of kale haha. But it doesn’t bother me because I shove kale in my smoothies all the time. I think if you want the prettier pink color, use fresh beets if your blender can handle it and little less kale. I also used Tuscan kale and wonder if I should’ve used a different variety.

In the end I liked it because I like all the wholesome ingredients used which I’m always wanting to find more combos like this!!! I don’t want all fruit smoothies all the time or just a handful of spinach added to it. I like seeing more vegetable variety.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the smoothie, Amanda! Any variety of kale will do, though Tuscan kale tends to have darker leaves which likely impacted the colour. We're so glad the smoothie was still enjoyed 💛

Very tasty! Smallest smoothie though. I ended up using almond/coconut milk (homemade) instead of apple juice and found I needed to double the amount of liquid. So for 1 serving, rather than 1/4 cup I used 1/2 cup. Was still very thick like that (not too thick, like milkshake consistency). I’ll make it again for sure.
