Ingredients
Matcha latte
-
4Medjool dates, pits removed
-
1½ cups (360 mL)canned light coconut milk
-
½ cup (120 mL)unsweetened soy milk†
-
1 tsp (2 g)matcha powder
Directions
- Add all of the ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth*.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan on medium-high heat and stir continuously.
- When hot, but not boiling*, remove from heat and pour into your desired cups. Enjoy!
Notes
- †Nutrition tip: aim to use plant-based milk that is fortified with calcium.
- * Note the dates are used to provide natural sweetness, but they also add a slight graininess to the drink. For a smoother texture, add maple syrup instead, and simply add all the ingredients straight into the saucepan.
- ** Boiling matcha can cause it to taste bitter.
Storage
- Best to enjoy this drink immediately.

WOW. Comforting and warming on a cold winters day.
A warm hug, basically 😌. I do not think that this recipe needs any sweetener at all; the natural sweetness of oat milk (my favourite plant-based beverage) and light coconut milk takes the edge of the bitter earthiness from the matcha. Moreover, the creaminess of the liquids are sufficient😊
Lovely alternative to tea! Coconut and matcha complement each other really well
Without a high-speed blender, it is hard to tell how the texture is meant to be. Either way, due to needing to blend and then heat it up on the stove, I would rate this recipe lower, especially for one or two servings. Feels like a lot of equipment and back and forth for a cup of tea. That being said, it is fun to try new recipes. I am up to 115 recipes tested from this app over the course of 6 months! 🍵
So easy but so delicious!
Omg this is a little bit of heaven in a mug 🤤
Very tasty, but I’ll try maple syrup next time as I didn’t love the flavor it added.
Today I learned that canned coconut milk (or probably coconut milk in general) is not up my alley... The recipe was pretty good though, I will try it again in the future with a different kind of milk!
Delicious! Ultra rich and creamy! I made the 1 serving recipe and cut down a bit on the dates and next time would use a little less of the recommended coconut milk as well because it came out too sweet for me. I used oat milk so not sure if that added to the creaminess even more. To reduce the graininess of the dates I poured the warmed mixture through a sieve and that worked perfectly! But overall, love the combination of ingredients and taste. A keeper for sure!
Would love to make this as well as some of your other Matcha drinks but can you recommend a brand of matcha to use, as you had specific instructions on the type of marcha to use. Thank you.
OMG!!! This is so amazing! The sweetness from the dates and the earthiness and the bitterness from the matcha combined with the creaminess of the coconut milk makes this an absolute treat! Thank you guys for sharing!
To keep the matcha from becoming scorched, heat the milks and then add to blender with the matcha and dates. just be sure the lid is on tightly :)
I'm enjoying this matcha right now, for breakfast. It's super sweet and I love it ❤️ Using dates as a natural sweetener is such a great idea!
This recipe is delicious! Admittedly, I'd never had matcha before I made this, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I thought the result was comforting, cozy, and just the right amount of sweet. My decision to give this a go was spontaneous (was given a bag of matcha powder and got curious), so I didn't have coconut OR soy milk on hand, but I made it entirely with almond milk and still thought it was wonderful. Thanks for this treat!!
THANK YOU!!!!! This is an amazing treat as I sit here today watching the snow falling so beautifully. I have loved every one of your recipes since finding your blog a couple of weeks ago. This way of eating has been a game changer on how I feel physically, spiritually and energy. Thank you for all you for sharing your delicious and easy recipes with us.
Wahou! My mind is blown! This is such a good drink! I'm used to having matcha with different milks and drink it already on a day-to-day basis but this recipe made it soo creamy. It's like hug. I will definitely make this a weekend staple!!
One of my favorite, most-used recipes from your site. I got into a habit of making these every Friday for my end-of-the-week treat (in replacement of what used to be my usual Starbucks chai tea latte). I haven't made them for a while now (been on a coffee kick), but I suspect I'll be back to making these again, soon (which will probably make the medjool date and coconut milk suppliers very happy...) These are delicious, creamy and just sweet enough (I reduce the amount of dates from 4 down to 2.)
