I made this last week when I had guests over. 3 out of 4 kids liked it. My picky eater didn't even touch them but that has nothing to do with the recipe. It went quicker than I expected. The only issue I had was that the flour batter felt slightly too runny and the panko and nutritional yeast mixture started sticking together as it got damp from the flour batter and wouldn't stick to the tofu anymore, so I had to switch it out in the middle. I also had regular breadcrumbs so I used those without the nutritional yeast. Next time I would definitely use just regular breadcrumbs from the beginning. I also preferred the texture of those because they were more evenly coated and turned out crunchier than the first batch that wasn't fully and evenly coated because the panko didn't stick too well.
Just made those, very tasty and so crunchy! We made the spicy mayo but we also ate them with other sauces we had, caramelized soy sauce and "potatoes" sauce, was definitely a win!
Loved this recipe! I’ve been wanting to try it for some time and I’m glad I finally did.
The nuggets were crispy without having to spray them. I used my air fryer function in the oven and had them in for a little less than 25 minutes.
Vraiment très bon et si croustillant !
Need to allow prep time to coat the tofu (I cut in small cubes versus tearing). Thankful for the tip to use one hand for batter and the other for the coating. Did not spray with oil and they turned out great. Excellent recipe!
I made them today to take some to work and bring some to a picnic tomorrow.
I put them into my airfryer and they came out really crispy and delicious! Almost burnt my mouth because I couldn‘t wait to eat the first one. 😅
Next time I definitely will put some sriracha into the marinade and / or the batter.
One thing to consider: It takes definitely more time to coat all pieces in batter and breadcrumps. It took me about half an hour in total to dip and coat. This is my only complaint about a lot of your recipes: The given time is not working for me, I usually need 1.5 to 2 times the time.
Made this for dinner can’t believe how much I enjoyed tofu. Nice to have tofu more simply made. Thanks so much
Does anyone know if it works to prepare in advance and keep in the fridge to cook in the oven next day?
this recipe was a bit tricky for me, i might try extra firm tofu and slicing it instead of tearing it apart in the future
Top tofu recipes!!
Delicious tofu nuggies. They were the perfect level of crispy after 30 minutes (flipping halfway through). I paired them with PUL’s vegan spicy mayo. I love freezing tofu for a meatier texture, so I showed my non-vegan husband how real they looked on the inside. He asked for a bite from one. I asked for the other half back, but he couldn’t resist devouring the whole thing. He ended up asking for my last one (of course I had to say yes). I would certainly make these again.
My new favorite way to use tofu! The texture, flavor and crunch is out of this world!
These are delicious
For the Crispy Baked Tofu Nuggets I’d like to make a sauce that is not spicy. Any ideas?
Hi
I’m new cooking without eggs: the batter that supposed to glue the bread didn’t work for me, why is so? How the bread crumbs looks so good in the photo?
Please help , I’d like learn :)
Is there a video for this recipe?
These are so good! The addition of smoked paprika in the bread crumbs makes them extra flavorful!
This is a great recipe. Love the addition of the smoked paprika to the bread crumb coating!
Yummy
