I tried it with cow milk, as I had it and couldn't find pea milk, and while it was really good, I will try next time with coconut milk as some people suggested!
I love this recipe though it does make me uncomfortably gassy.
To solve it I tried soaking the lentils overnight then modified the recipe to use 3 cups of milk and cooked it for only 20 mins. This solved the gas issue but the lentils lost most of their consistency.
Is there any advice you can give to further modify the recipe to help with the consistency and make digestion less gassy?
wow wow, delicious!!
I amped up all the seasonings at the end and added salt and pepper and lemon juice. Delicious!
I'm from the UK and never heard of "marry me" style food but I'm glad I tried this.
Simple to make with wholesome ingredients and ending with delicious flavour.
Amazing! This was incredibly delicious! My husband said he understands the name- he loved it too! Thank you! We will make again :)
I'm not much of a lentils fan and I loved this so much. Used unsweetened soy milk and tipped with sliced avocado. It was unreal. Made at least 5 big portions for me. Great recipe!
A bit salty, but very easy to make, filling and yummy.
Although my lentils disintegrated by the time the stew was done, it still tasted awesome especially with some homemade rustic bread 🥖
So good!
This dish is so filling and satisfying and very easy to make. It comes with a heartwarming savouriness and I can imagine it could also be good as a base fir an italian inspired vegan shepherds pie situation. 😍
Perfect for a cold night in! Used barista milk instead of pea milk bc I couldn’t find it anywhere of the groceries stores in Spain.
So good! I used one cup of soy milk and 3 cups of water instead of the pea milk and it was still super creamy and rich 🤩
This is heavenly! Thank you!
This turned out just incredibly for me! I used almond milk and was a bit worried about it in the beginning tbh, but it all came together so perfectly that I was already thinking about when I could make it again before I finished eating my first serving. Absolutely stunning y’all 💜
SO delicious. I didn’t have access to pea milk so I swapped it with coconut milk and it was amazing
My go-to quick, tasty and nutritious meal.
i do 💍
I just started using this app so I haven’t cooked very many meals but so far this is definitely my favorite and I loved the other meals I made as well
Delicious and easy to make 😋
We love it. Very easy to make and very tasty
Great recipe that seems flexible to add whatever veggies you have on hand; leftovers kept well
I would actually like to marry these lentils
Delicious. The weather has been rubbish today and this was a hug in a bowl for lunch.
Amazing Sadia!! I have never subscribed to any app, but your recipes are amazing. I’m not even vegan, I just want to eat healthier and you are really helping me. You have the best app (love the grocery list, the attention to detail, very user friendly) at a very good price. Thank you!
Incredible recipe! Made it for friends and they were all in awe! The sun dried tomatoes, the chili flakes, everything works perfectly! Best recipe ❤️
So delicious! It was easy to make and it tastes great. I ate it on some rice, which was a good addition.
Very delicious. I pre-cooked in a fry pan and transferred everything to a crock pot. I swapped out to almond milk.
Not sure why but this didn't work our for me. It was rather bland. I did use soy milk instead of pea - maybe it really needs the pea milk.
Not the greatest meal I ever cooked but still tasty.
Taste was fantastic but lentils were a bit mushy. Not sure I would make again because our kids didn't like it and pea milk is super expensive in our area.
My red lentils came out a little grainy, maybe they needed cooked more? To compensate, I added in some rice and brown lentils. Now it’s become a yummy vegan jambalaya! I will remake with some celery and green bell pepper next time. :)
So easy, so delicious!
It was delicious!! Will make again for sure !!
Oh my goodness so delicious. My partner is stew-suspicious and ate this up. Making it again for them this week. I swapped pea milk (quite expensive where I’m from) with 1 can coconut milk and 1 can measure of water. Soooo creamy and delicious. Thanks PUL ❤️
Made this more my friends yesterday—we loved it!
Really enjoyed this! Great consistency and umami flavor. I was nervous about my almond milk doing that gross thing it does in coffee, but I stirred a lot and kept the temp pretty low and it worked!
Another excellent recipe from pick up limes!!!
Warms the heart. Even my husband, who is really grumpy about the lentils dishes liked this one.
I made this and it tasted great but I dont think the recommended swap for the pea milk should be soy milk. I think canned coconut milk makes more sense because the soy milk crumbles up into curdles while cooking & overall ruins the look & texture of the dish but other than that its a great recipe
This was delicious! I wasnt sure how much was 1 serving though, like how many grams or oz is in 1 serving to match the calorie count.
This dish is a delicacy!
We don't have a "marry-me-chicken" in my country, so I didn't stick to all of the original ingredients.
I didn't have courgettes at the moment and made it with yellow lentils (that I had at hand) instead of the red ones; cooked it with half the "milk" - half water (I used my favourite dm bio barrista, which is oats + soy). Didn't have sun-dried tomatoes, still it turned out super delicious with just the tomato paste :)
I only added ground coriander seeds to the recipe, as this is my favourite spice that I can't do without...
Because I had diabetes, I skipped the nutritional yeast. Even without it, the dish is sumptuous. :)
By the end of cooking, I added broccoli to make it complete with sprinkled dry-roasted sunflower seeds for a bit of crunch. Served with spirelli pasta and cucumber salad (to which I added the Sojade "greek yoghurt" and dill), it makes a perfect easy-to-make summer meal.
Thank you for the recipe! :)
The taste was incredible! So hearty. Easy to make and very filling. Bonus: easy to freeze for when I work late and need quick dinner, as I've always got some bread and yoghurt laying around. Thanks for the recipe!
Delicious meal, very easy and fast to make :)
My heavens, this was delicious!!
Love your recipes! However, unfortunately I am unable to use nutritional yeast because it does not suit me well. Do you have any alternatives to national yeast?
These were alright. A fairly easy and nutritious meal. Idk if I like soy milk with it, maybe it’s better with the pea one.
I added fresh herbs and that definitely helped.
