Amazing! This was incredibly delicious! My husband said he understands the name- he loved it too! Thank you! We will make again :)

Kate G - March 16, 2025, 9:21 p.m.

I'm not much of a lentils fan and I loved this so much. Used unsweetened soy milk and tipped with sliced avocado. It was unreal. Made at least 5 big portions for me. Great recipe!

Kate G - March 16, 2025, 9:22 p.m.

*topped

Martunia - March 15, 2025, 3:13 p.m.

A bit salty, but very easy to make, filling and yummy.

UmmAli - March 9, 2025, 6:30 a.m.

Although my lentils disintegrated by the time the stew was done, it still tasted awesome especially with some homemade rustic bread 🥖

Bex - Feb. 22, 2025, 11:57 p.m.

So good!

Tine - Feb. 10, 2025, 7:01 p.m.

This dish is so filling and satisfying and very easy to make. It comes with a heartwarming savouriness and I can imagine it could also be good as a base fir an italian inspired vegan shepherds pie situation. 😍

loh - Feb. 7, 2025, 8:12 p.m.

Perfect for a cold night in! Used barista milk instead of pea milk bc I couldn’t find it anywhere of the groceries stores in Spain.

Julie - Feb. 5, 2025, 1:22 p.m.

So good! I used one cup of soy milk and 3 cups of water instead of the pea milk and it was still super creamy and rich 🤩

Dorina - Jan. 31, 2025, 9:51 p.m.

This is heavenly! Thank you!

Rose Landroche - Jan. 29, 2025, 11:15 p.m.

This turned out just incredibly for me! I used almond milk and was a bit worried about it in the beginning tbh, but it all came together so perfectly that I was already thinking about when I could make it again before I finished eating my first serving. Absolutely stunning y’all 💜

Yay we're so glad that the marry me lentils were enjoyed, Rose, thank you! 😊

Doinky - Jan. 27, 2025, 8:20 p.m.

SO delicious. I didn’t have access to pea milk so I swapped it with coconut milk and it was amazing

I just started using this app so I haven’t cooked very many meals but so far this is definitely my favorite and I loved the other meals I made as well

Carolyn Barry Zacsh - Nov. 28, 2024, 3:14 a.m.

Great recipe that seems flexible to add whatever veggies you have on hand; leftovers kept well

Josefine P - Nov. 26, 2024, 2:45 p.m.

I would actually like to marry these lentils

Krystle - Nov. 19, 2024, 2:53 p.m.

Delicious. The weather has been rubbish today and this was a hug in a bowl for lunch.

Filipa G - Nov. 8, 2024, 10:36 p.m.

Amazing Sadia!! I have never subscribed to any app, but your recipes are amazing. I’m not even vegan, I just want to eat healthier and you are really helping me. You have the best app (love the grocery list, the attention to detail, very user friendly) at a very good price. Thank you!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 9, 2024, 8:45 p.m.

Aw we're so honoured to be welcomed on your journey, Filipa, thanks for the love and support! 🥰

Mica M - Oct. 29, 2024, 6:31 p.m.

Incredible recipe! Made it for friends and they were all in awe! The sun dried tomatoes, the chili flakes, everything works perfectly! Best recipe ❤️

Alex - Oct. 27, 2024, 11:14 p.m.

So delicious! It was easy to make and it tastes great. I ate it on some rice, which was a good addition.

Danielle - Oct. 13, 2024, 9:40 p.m.

Very delicious. I pre-cooked in a fry pan and transferred everything to a crock pot. I swapped out to almond milk.

Emily - Oct. 5, 2024, 8:52 p.m.

Not sure why but this didn't work our for me. It was rather bland. I did use soy milk instead of pea - maybe it really needs the pea milk.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Oct. 6, 2024, 8:57 p.m.

Hey Emily, oh no! We've intentionally left out soy milk as a substitute for this recipe, as we've heard several lower reviews when using it. For example, soy milk may curdle more easily which can impact the dish 🙂

Inu - Oct. 2, 2024, 1:41 p.m.

Not the greatest meal I ever cooked but still tasty.

Kari Brock - Oct. 1, 2024, 2:50 a.m.

Taste was fantastic but lentils were a bit mushy. Not sure I would make again because our kids didn't like it and pea milk is super expensive in our area.

Stephen Coward - Sept. 30, 2024, 12:05 a.m.

My red lentils came out a little grainy, maybe they needed cooked more? To compensate, I added in some rice and brown lentils. Now it’s become a yummy vegan jambalaya! I will remake with some celery and green bell pepper next time. :)

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 30, 2024, 4:16 p.m.

Hey Stephen, it sounds like you've created a delicious twist! Grainy lentils could be a sign they needed a bit more cooking time. Grainy lentils could also result from cooking them at too high a heat. Lowering the heat and simmering gently can help achieve that perfect creamy texture next time. Your additions of rice and brown lentils turned it into a tasty vegan jambalaya sounds lovely too though 🙌

Judith Van De Geer - Sept. 27, 2024, 11:13 a.m.

So easy, so delicious!

Mélissa - Sept. 8, 2024, 6:42 a.m.

It was delicious!! Will make again for sure !!

Hilary - Sept. 6, 2024, 7:47 a.m.

Oh my goodness so delicious. My partner is stew-suspicious and ate this up. Making it again for them this week. I swapped pea milk (quite expensive where I’m from) with 1 can coconut milk and 1 can measure of water. Soooo creamy and delicious. Thanks PUL ❤️

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 6, 2024, 2:46 p.m.

Aww we're thrilled that the dish was enjoyed, Hilary, and thanks for the insight on using coconut milk 🫶

Alyson Price - Sept. 2, 2024, 11:54 p.m.

Made this more my friends yesterday—we loved it!

Claire - Sept. 1, 2024, 1:49 a.m.

Really enjoyed this! Great consistency and umami flavor. I was nervous about my almond milk doing that gross thing it does in coffee, but I stirred a lot and kept the temp pretty low and it worked!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 2, 2024, 3:30 a.m.

Ooo thanks for the tip, Claire, thank you!

JL B - Aug. 25, 2024, 3:08 a.m.

Another excellent recipe from pick up limes!!!

Karolina Patalas - Aug. 24, 2024, 3:22 p.m.

Warms the heart. Even my husband, who is really grumpy about the lentils dishes liked this one.

Michaelyn Maniti - Aug. 21, 2024, 5:46 a.m.

I made this and it tasted great but I dont think the recommended swap for the pea milk should be soy milk. I think canned coconut milk makes more sense because the soy milk crumbles up into curdles while cooking & overall ruins the look & texture of the dish but other than that its a great recipe

SG - Aug. 23, 2024, 4:12 a.m.

Same happened to me!

Em - Aug. 25, 2024, 1:42 p.m.

Happened to me too! Was otherwise delicious though 😋. Will keep an eye out for pea milk instead of using soy again next time!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 25, 2024, 9:29 p.m.

Hey friends! Oh no - thanks for the heads up. I wonder if our soy milk might be made differently than yours. We've updated the recipe. We imagine coconut milk will impart a strong coconut flavour to the dish. Thank you for helping us improve what we do 🤗

Katrien Vanlerberghe - Aug. 26, 2024, 8:04 a.m.

Hi! I’d recommend maybe trying a different brand of soy milk. I’ve had this happen with one brand, but not with others. Soy milk from the brand Alpro, for example, always works wonderful for me :)

caramella - Sept. 11, 2024, 10:12 p.m.

I did this recipe with unsweetened soy milk and it was perfect! I used the Lidl brand. I think soy it’s the the best alternative to keep this recipe high protein but coconut sounds also good and it would definitely increase the creaminess 😍

Sophie - Sept. 12, 2024, 7:15 p.m.

I also use the Lidl soy milk or the Rewe Bio soy milk, they both work for me :)

Sine - Dec. 13, 2024, 8:22 p.m.

I’ve also tried making it with soy milk and it turned out perfect. No different than pea milk. Really like this recipe

Kimberly Minton - Aug. 17, 2024, 11:27 p.m.

This was delicious! I wasnt sure how much was 1 serving though, like how many grams or oz is in 1 serving to match the calorie count.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 18, 2024, 11:16 a.m.

Hey Kimberly, I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe! We don’t weigh the final dish by grams or ounces; instead, we divide the entire dish into roughly equal portions to match the serving count. For this recipe, if you split the final amount into three equal parts, each would be one serving. Based on the ingredients, we estimate that one portion is likely around 600–650 grams, though this can vary depending on the size of the veggies and how much evaporation occurs during cooking. I hope this helps!

Kimberly Minton - Aug. 18, 2024, 3:26 p.m.

It does help thanks so much!

&rea - Aug. 12, 2024, 11:39 p.m.

This dish is a delicacy!
We don't have a "marry-me-chicken" in my country, so I didn't stick to all of the original ingredients.

I didn't have courgettes at the moment and made it with yellow lentils (that I had at hand) instead of the red ones; cooked it with half the "milk" - half water (I used my favourite dm bio barrista, which is oats + soy). Didn't have sun-dried tomatoes, still it turned out super delicious with just the tomato paste :)

I only added ground coriander seeds to the recipe, as this is my favourite spice that I can't do without...

Because I had diabetes, I skipped the nutritional yeast. Even without it, the dish is sumptuous. :)

By the end of cooking, I added broccoli to make it complete with sprinkled dry-roasted sunflower seeds for a bit of crunch. Served with spirelli pasta and cucumber salad (to which I added the Sojade "greek yoghurt" and dill), it makes a perfect easy-to-make summer meal.

Thank you for the recipe! :)

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 14, 2024, 3:30 p.m.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the marry me lentils, &rea! So glad that you enjoyed the recipe with the modifications 🤗

Thank *you* for taking the time to respond to each comment, not all bloggers /youtubers do that, so it's much appreciated!
Keep up the good work :)
Love from Croatia ☀️☀️☀️

Hey &rea, I really appreciate you sharing the Brands that worked with this recipe :)

DB - Aug. 12, 2024, 8:54 p.m.

The taste was incredible! So hearty. Easy to make and very filling. Bonus: easy to freeze for when I work late and need quick dinner, as I've always got some bread and yoghurt laying around. Thanks for the recipe!

Dominika Kacprzak - Aug. 12, 2024, 8:32 p.m.

Delicious meal, very easy and fast to make :)

Sara - Aug. 12, 2024, 12:34 p.m.

My heavens, this was delicious!!

Nikita - Aug. 12, 2024, 11:34 a.m.

Love your recipes! However, unfortunately I am unable to use nutritional yeast because it does not suit me well. Do you have any alternatives to national yeast?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 13, 2024, 7:32 p.m.

Hi Nikita, the nutritional yeast adds a creaminess and cheesy taste to the dish which is tricky to mimic with any other plant-based substitute. With that said, it's not totally necessary for this recipe, so if you'd like to leave it out you can 😊

alisa - Aug. 12, 2024, 8:07 a.m.

These were alright. A fairly easy and nutritious meal. Idk if I like soy milk with it, maybe it’s better with the pea one.
I added fresh herbs and that definitely helped.

Alisa - Sept. 6, 2024, 6:31 a.m.

Tried it with pea milk and it turned our a lot better! Would change the rating to 5 now :)
