This is not the greatest food I have ever eaten, definitely not the worst. I like the texture and the crust. 👌
(With all these beans, beware the 💨)

Alexis Bushnell - Oct. 31, 2024, 1:16 p.m.

Should I be freezing these cooked or raw? I'd assumed raw but wasn't sure given the wording

PUL small logo PUL Team - Oct. 31, 2024, 1:39 p.m.

Hi Alexis! Great question. You could freeze them either way! From frozen, the baking time will likely need to go up a bit to accommodate the frozen middle, so we would suggest covering the crust with some foil for at least half the baking time to prevent it from burning. We have now added this to the storage note. Let us know if you try it!

Mélissa - Aug. 28, 2024, 3:25 a.m.

I would put more sauce and maybe mash half of the beans or switch for tofu to be less dry

Niels Nieuwenhuizen - Aug. 4, 2024, 8:33 p.m.

Would regular tofu work? They don't have silken tofu at the shops where i go.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 8, 2024, 5:08 a.m.

Hey Niels, you could try with firm tofu as a substitute. Just be sure to blend it well to achieve a smoother consistency similar to silken tofu. You might need to increase the amount of soy milk to reach the desired texture for the sauce. Let us know how it goes if you try out the modification 🙌

In my area silken tofu is also a rare commodity, thus I usually replace it with mixed butter beans.

Anaïs - June 23, 2024, 7:53 a.m.

Loved the taste of the filling !
I baked at 390 for 25min but the pie crust did not cook too well, like it was harden on the outside but undercooked, do you have any tips ?

PUL small logo PUL Team - June 25, 2024, 10:14 p.m.

Hi Anaïs, we're glad you enjoyed the filling! Did you bake them in different-sized dishes, by any chance? If your dishes are larger, you can cover them with a lid or foil for 15 - 20 minutes, then uncover and continue to cook until the tops are golden. You can also try baking it at a slightly lower temperature for a longer time 😊 We use the conventional cooking mode of our oven, top and bottom heating. If your oven is convection or the rack is closer to the heating element or a smaller oven, if can change the cooking time for this recipe.

Absolutely love this! So simple and quickly put together and super comforting and nourishing 👌🏻

The first time we made these we didn't see the info that it's supposed to make 8 pies though with 2 pies per serving so we were a little confused that it didn't all fit into 4 dishes. Ours must also be a different depth because we got about 5-6 pies out of it. But this way one pie was enough for one person and when we wanted a little more we just shared a third one, so it still worked out perfectly fine ☺️

It's great to hear you enjoyed the recipe, Mairi! Adjusting the serving size based on your dish depth is a lovely workaround to get a satisfying portion 🤗

Mickie Couchman - Feb. 27, 2024, 11:50 p.m.

This was a HUGE success tonight! My only comment is the quantity: definitely filled more than four ramekins so I made one big pie and cooked at 170 C for about an hour. On a whim, I used filo pastry and sprinkled the top with salt, thyme and nigella seeds; it looked amazing. It's now on our list of 'favourites' .

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 28, 2024, 12:31 a.m.

Hey there, Mickie, we're so happy to hear the pot pies were a success. The filo topping sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe. I wonder if your ramekins may be a different size than ours? In case it helps, ours were 4-inch/10-cm (2-inch/5-cm deep) round ramekins 😊

Travis Palmer - Feb. 27, 2024, 3:24 a.m.

Has anyone tried this with the gluten free and vegan puff pastry crust?

Luz Sapien - Feb. 11, 2024, 7:46 a.m.

Made this for two and it was really tasty!

Carlijn - Feb. 10, 2024, 10:05 p.m.

Delicious! Perfect for cold winter days, and frankly any other occasion.

So happy that the pot pies are being enjoyed, Carlijn!

Easy to make! Loved it and added some hot sauce for some extra kick:) Used canned beans.

Caterina - Jan. 28, 2024, 3:01 a.m.

So excited about these! One question: what if I don’t have ramekins? Can I just use a normal tray? Does the cooking time change? Thank you to the PUL team for the continuous amazing contents!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 29, 2024, 9:29 p.m.

Hey Caterina, we imagine using a normal tray instead of ramekins would work fine! The cooking time might vary slightly depending on the size and depth of the tray. We'd recommend keeping an eye on the pie while baking (cook until the crust is golden!) and adjust the time as needed. Thanks for the very kind words and happy cooking! 🤗

I'm so excited to try this!
