Martunia - March 28, 2025, 8:21 p.m.

This was indeed very tasty and easy to make. I used a large baguette instead of regular bread and a yellow onion instead of the red.

So thrilled to hear this, Martunia, thank you 🙌

Aileen - Jan. 28, 2025, 5:22 a.m.

Delicious! It really looked like tuna. I added some vegan spicy mayo to mine. Yum!

Jessica - Dec. 19, 2024, 12:32 a.m.

This was so good. I could eat it everyday. I did find the recipe made a lot of the sandwich filling, maybe I scooped too much of the TVP, so I will weigh it next time. But the filling is delicious, so that’s not a problem! 😆

Coco - Aug. 25, 2024, 2:48 a.m.

What flavour of vegan cheese is recommended for use in this recipe?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Aug. 26, 2024, 4:21 a.m.

Hey Coco, in The Netherlands, the 'regular' flavoured vegan cheeses are close to Gouda cheese in flavour. We also like a mild cheddar-style vegan cheese for this sandwich 🙂.

K Roberts - Sept. 8, 2024, 9:39 p.m.

Which vegan cheese(s) would you personally recommend for the slices (I'm in NL)? Over the years I have tried so many and hated them all that I'm very reluctant to buy new ones without someone I trust vouching for them...

PUL small logo PUL Team - Sept. 9, 2024, 2:25 p.m.

Hey K, aw it can be challenging to find the right fit! We use the Albert Heijn house brand cheese slices. We've also heard that Simply V mild cheese slices are good for melting on sandwiches! 😊

Alexis Bushnell - June 26, 2024, 2:50 p.m.

Super tasty. I adapted as I didn't have nori sheets so I just a chicken stock cube to flavour it. Worked really well.

this was incredible!!! perfect quick dinner and i packed another one for my day in the field tomorrow, i’ll definitely be the one with the best lunch 😋

Phillipa - April 8, 2024, 3:03 p.m.

This tasted like something you would be charged a huge amount for in a cafe. It was really tasty and a real treat for a weekday lunch at home. Thank you for the recipe.

So happy to hear you enjoyed the sandwich, Phillipa! Love that it met cafe standards 🙌

Preethi - April 3, 2024, 4:52 a.m.

Wow, looks yummy!!

I have not heard of/seen TPV before tho. Could it be substituted with chickpeas instead?

PUL small logo PUL Team - April 3, 2024, 5:36 a.m.

Hey Preethi, texturized vegetable protein (TVP) is a soy-based meat substitute that resembles veggie ground, and has a meat-like texture when rehydrated. We imagine you could use cooked chickpeas and skip the cooking and rehydration steps instead 😊

Christine - April 2, 2024, 11:04 a.m.

Hi where can I buy the TVP? If I google it I get lost 😵‍💫

PUL small logo PUL Team - April 2, 2024, 7:54 p.m.

Hi Christine! We get our textured vegetable protein (TVP) from the organic product section at our local grocery store Albert Heijn. It is also available at the Asian grocery store here. There are two types: 1) veggie ground made from TVP which doesn't need to be soaked, and 2) dry TVP which needs to be soaked to rehydrate. We prefer the dry version for this recipe personally 😊

Anita - April 4, 2024, 6:55 a.m.

I was wondering the same 😕

Alexis Bushnell - June 26, 2024, 2:51 p.m.

I get mine from a local zero waste store. Holland and Barrett also stock it (UK).
