This walnut pasta is pure indulgence. The recipe was inspired by a traditional dish from Liguria region in Italy, called "salsa di noci", a type of walnut pesto made with walnuts, garlic, butter, and cheese. Our vegan version is creamy, rich, sweet and at the same time slightly tart. A perfect and easy dinner to impress.

Omití la salvia porque es algo complicada de conseguir en México, está pasta es deliciosa. La siguiente vez añadiré más leche porque la salsa quedó algo seca para mi gusto.

I thought this recipe was just OK. Nice to have a simple pasta dish that’s nutritious and easy to make. I like that part. But I felt like it didn’t have that much flavor.
Marguerite De Valois - Nov. 7, 2024, 2:42 p.m.
Super plat de pâtes, copieux et réconfortant. Un détail cependant : 120ml d'eau de cuisson c'est trop. La sauce est trop liquide. 3 à 4 cuillères à soupe sont certainement amplement suffisantes
Michelle - Oct. 1, 2024, 4:32 p.m.
Delicious and easy to make! Very creamy, second time we added vegan bacon and it gave a carbonara feeling 👌🏻
Rob - Sept. 10, 2024, 7:38 p.m.
I had this one marked for a while as I couldn't decide if I thought it would be a strange mix of ingredients 😂 I gave it a go tonight and I don't know how such minimal ingredients make such a tasty dish! I'm definitely sold! If you are like I was, just make it, you won't regret it! I also made PUL parmesan to sprinkle on the top which was a nice addition.
PUL Team - Sept. 10, 2024, 10:21 p.m.
Awe thanks for taking the time to share your experience with this pasta recipe, Rob! Sometimes the most unexpected ingredients can turn into the tastiest dishes 🤗
Rob - Sept. 11, 2024, 9:59 a.m.
Absolutely! I've had a couple of recipes like this from the app, so I'm learning to not just assume 😂 I use the app pretty much every day, as it's like having a cookbook in your pocket, that tells you what you need to buy. Definitely the handiest app I've ever tried 💙💙
Michala - Aug. 13, 2024, 8:33 p.m.
Love this dish! Easy to put together.
Kim Tee - July 15, 2024, 10:06 a.m.
Unique, delicious way to prepare pasta! My stepdaughter made this one, and everyone was pleased. We had savoury sauteed mushrooms on the side which was a perfect accompaniment.
PUL Team - July 15, 2024, 6 p.m.
Mmm love the idea of pairing the pasta with mushrooms! Thank you, Kim 🙌✨
india - June 17, 2024, 5:05 p.m.
Absolutely beautiful🤤✨! I also found that doing the crispy sage leaves first meant you can use the oil that’s left in there and save using another frying pan
Phillipa - Jan. 17, 2025, 8:43 p.m.
Ooo good tip. Thank you! I'm planning on trying this one soon.

Joe - May 13, 2024, 3:45 a.m.
This recipe is absolutely amazing. Super easy. Complete the food prep and the sauce comes together quickly while the pasta is cooking.
For the soy cream, I made a béchamel using soy milk and added nutritional yeast for cheesy goodness.
The addition of the pasta water is key to make sure the sauce isn’t too thick and stays creamy as pasta is tossed in. Definitely will get a repeat performance. Yum yum.
PUL Team - May 15, 2024, 1:01 a.m.
Hey there, Joe, we're so happy to hear you're enjoying the walnut pasta! Thanks for sharing your experience with it :)
Gabi B. - May 12, 2024, 12:43 p.m.
This was excellent! Added some cashews and used basil instead of sage (tastes like medicine for me) and it turned out great. Quick and easy, definitely a keeper!!!
PUL Team - May 13, 2024, 2:38 a.m.
Yayy so happy to hear this, Gabi ☺️
Gabi B. - May 28, 2024, 8:07 p.m.
Made it again, his time frying some sage leaves, because I have lots in the garden…. They. Are. Bomb! So, so good! Crumbled on top, the perfect finish!
PUL Team - May 28, 2024, 9:48 p.m.
Okay this sounds incredible, Gabi! Thank you for the update 🙂
Julie - April 22, 2024, 1:25 p.m.
This is delicious! Walnut pesto is just such a great hack for a simple meal. I used a cooking cream with chili, which gave a little extra kick. A drop of maple syrup helps keep the bitterness of the nuts away, so would recommend trying that!
PUL Team - April 22, 2024, 9 p.m.
Hey Julie, so happy to hear this and thanks for the maple syrup tip!
Francesca - April 19, 2024, 9:07 a.m.
There’s something about this pasta I can’t quite put my finger on that makes it absolutely amazing. It’s creamy, it’s salty, there’s green in it but it doesn’t taste like there is. I made this two days in a row since my boyfriend absolutely loved it the first time. Wow. Truly, simply, wow.
PUL Team - April 19, 2024, 9:53 p.m.
Aww we're so thrilled that you're enjoying the pasta, Francesca! 🥰
gigi - April 4, 2024, 2:11 a.m.
Very easy and yummy. It reminds me of a pasta dish my Italian mama used to make with ground walnuts but this much healthier!
PUL Team - April 4, 2024, 4:04 p.m.
Love when recipes have a personal connection! We're so happy to hear the walnut pasta was enjoyed, Gigi 🥰
Clara - April 2, 2024, 8:41 p.m.
Love it!
Marika - April 1, 2024, 1:05 a.m.
We loved this recipe! Switched the sage and spinach to rosemary and cavolo nero as it was things we already had at home, and added some tomatoes that needed to be eaten. So a great 'foundation' recipe to experiment with!
PUL Team - April 1, 2024, 8:03 a.m.
Mmm sounds lovely, Marika! So glad you enjoyed the pasta 🙂

Chrysiida - March 24, 2024, 10:54 a.m.
This was good, but the taste of the sage leaves was a bit weird... Maybe because it's more common here to use them for making tea and not for food, so I feel like my mouth was confused-- I probably won't be making this again but it was a fun little experiment!
PUL Team - March 24, 2024, 8:40 p.m.
Hey Chrysiida, thanks for sharing your experience with the walnut pasta. If sage leaves aren't your thing and it helps, you could experiment with other herbs like basil or parsley for a different flavour profile. Sometimes, taste preferences vary, and that's okay though. Enjoy your culinary adventures 🤗
Jasmine - March 22, 2024, 12:41 a.m.
I was so excited to try this out. I added charred king oyster mushroom slices and it tasted so amazing!! It was quick to make, too
Jean-Marie Carroll - March 20, 2024, 1:16 a.m.
I think I’d use homemade cashew cream so it was a little thicker but enjoyed this dish very much!
John - March 20, 2024, 12:52 a.m.
Another fantastic recipe. We loved this so much.
Merve - March 17, 2024, 6:31 p.m.
It doesn’t lack anything from the pasta al pesto di noci I ate in Genova! Nuts are your friends, my dear, I want to say to everyone who cannot imagine them in a pasta sauce! 😎 Sage leaves elevated the flavor to a fine dining level -I don’t know how it tastes in fine dines, but I’m expecting a taste like this 😋. You did it again PUL! Thank you for this delicious recipe. 🥰
PUL Team - March 19, 2024, 1:49 a.m.
Aw we're smiling so much as we're reading this, Merve! So glad that the pasta was enjoyed and thank you for the glowing review 🫶✨

Amélie Labrie - March 6, 2024, 12:42 p.m.
Was very good. Added quite a bit more lemon to the recipe to balance it out. The sage leaves were delicious
Gauri Murthy - March 4, 2024, 5:55 p.m.
Very delicious!! Definitely don’t skip out on the sage leaves and lemon zest toppings as they elevate the dish immensely. Can’t wait to make again!!
PUL Team - March 5, 2024, 4:58 a.m.
So happy to hear you enjoyed the walnut pasta, Gauri!
Kristi - March 2, 2024, 10:38 p.m.
This one wasn’t our favorite, it definitely wasn’t bad, we just probably won’t make it again. Every other PUL recipe we’ve tried has been requested over and over again at our house, so this dish is really competing with new family favorites from this app. I think the bitterness from the walnuts is what threw my family off. I’ve read through the comments and it looks like toasting can remedy this issue as well as using very fresh walnuts. I wish I’d read through the comments before hand and realized, but it’s really not a huge deal when we have so many other favorites.
PUL Team - March 2, 2024, 10:58 p.m.
Hey Kristi, thanks for taking the time to leave the review and help us improve. We've added a note to the recipe about using fresh walnuts, as older ones can impart some bitterness indeed. Thanks for helping us improve what we do! It's great to hear you've found so many other favourites from the app to enjoy with your family! ✨
francesca - March 2, 2024, 7:27 p.m.
I did this recipe today at lunch, super quick and delicious! I was afraid it could be a bit “heavy”, but the lemon made it very fresh!

Woohoo! So glad that the walnut pasta was enjoyed, Francesca 😊
Willemijn Weterings - Feb. 29, 2024, 6:31 p.m.

Romane Q - Feb. 28, 2024, 11:14 p.m.
Hello, it seems like a nice recipe. How do you avoid the bitterness that walnut can have?
PUL Team - Feb. 28, 2024, 11:33 p.m.
Hey Romane, using fresh walnuts can work wonders, otherwise, we can also try toasting the walnuts before grinding them to reduce bitterness. Balancing the flavours with lemon and cooking cream also helps mask any lingering bitterness while adding richness to the dish. We hope you enjoy the pasta if you give it a try 😊
