Loved this!

Tried this for a fancy celebration of New Year, for lunch with my grandparents in law. They were cooks for their whole lives and loved the dish.
I can say that it is much more easy to make than I imagined, but looks like a pro made it!

It was a bit hard to measure the spices, due to the fact that you can’t taste test the rice and I would add a bit more spice than is recommend. As a further adjustment I thought that some sauce would be nice, that why I added a cup more water to the dish and after it came out of the oven I carefully removed the left over (now infused) water and thickened it to have a little sauce.

Definitely recommended to give it a try!!!

So glad it felt approachable and still had that “pro” feel, Annika! Thanks for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review, and Happy New Year to you and your family ✨

This will definitely be a Sunday afternoon project for me. But in the description it says you need to cover the baking dish with a lid. Can you also put on a big plate that covers most of the baking dish? Or should it really be a tight fit?

Oou this sounds like such a cozy Sunday plan, Astrid! An oven-safe plate or baking sheet that covers most of the dish should work fine if it traps the steam well. Try to keep it snug so the onions stay tender and don’t dry out while baking. Alternatively, aluminum foil also works 😊
