Another delicious recipe, I truly enjoyed it. I did everything according to your measurements and I would just say that it needs more water while cooking than 360ml for 3 servings. I was constantly adding water, even though the pot was covered. Thank you so much PUL team ❤️

Kira - Nov. 8, 2024, 1:09 p.m.

What happened to this recipe? I remember that when I last made it, it was spicy and a bit more acidic. Now, there's only paprika powder to spice it in the recipe and it tastes very dull. Did you change the recipe?

PUL small logo PUL Team - Nov. 8, 2024, 5:49 p.m.

Hi Kira, thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m sorry to hear the recipe didn’t turn out as expected this time. We haven’t made any changes to the recipe since it was published, but I wonder if the caraway seeds (listed as optional) might have been used last time and skipped this time? They can add a distinctive spice and depth to the dish.

Another thought: this goulash recipe is somewhat similar to our "Jackfruit Bourguignon." Could it be that the two recipes were mixed up? We're here to support in any way we can!

One of my favourite pickuplimes recipes so far. I like it spicy, so I put a bit more spice than what it says in the recipe.

Norma Afif - May 21, 2024, 11:47 a.m.

I made this recipe last night, turned out delicious, just left out the mock beef as I prefer not to use it. Still tasted great 🧡

Mai - May 5, 2024, 7:22 a.m.

I have tried five recipes from the PUL app so far; I love all the others. Unfortunately, this one was a fail for me😔 maybe because of the mock beef; I’ll try with a different brand next time and see if it gets better.

PUL small logo PUL Team - May 6, 2024, 11:33 p.m.

Hey Mai, oh no! In case it helps, we've heard a positive review for smoked tofu in place of the mock beef if that's more accessible 😊

Anne - March 27, 2024, 7:28 p.m.

Delicious! Although the carrot I used needed a little longer (or thinner slices), the dish turned out great. Will make it again! My toddler found it to be a little bit too spicy, though. What can we cut back on so she can enjoy it more? Thanks in advance!

A really comforting, hearty and tasty dish, perfect for a weeknight meal. I served it with some cooked red cabbage and austrian dumplings (Semmelknödel) on the side and even my Grandma, who is a regular meat eater, loved it. The next day I took a portion with me to work and so many people asked me about the recipe. A clear win in my books!

Mmm red cabbage and Austrian dumplings sound lovely, Nina! Thank you 🤩

Eva de Schipper - March 11, 2024, 7:09 p.m.

This was great! We did replace the mock beef with smoked tofu (due to availability), and added some chili powder. So simple to make, I love it! Will definitely make it again.

Lovely ideas to change up the recipe, Eva! Thanks for sharing your experience with it 🤗

Ada Moisescu - Feb. 5, 2024, 11:29 a.m.

What would you suggest as a replacement for mock beef/chicken?
I’m not a fan of mocked meat and also is hard to find in my area. :)
Thanks!!

PUL small logo PUL Team - Feb. 5, 2024, 5:25 p.m.

Hey Ada, you can omit the mock meat and add mushroom shreds for a similar texture if you'd like! Some other ideas are tofu, tempeh, seitan, or adding more beans 🤗

Silvia - Jan. 29, 2024, 7:43 a.m.

I used mock chicken and I am not sure if I would use that again (I guess I am just not used to it, maybe), but otherwise it was really good!

Eva Guth - Jan. 28, 2024, 2:19 p.m.

So delicious and the perfect comfy food especially at this time of the year. We used "like meat - like döner" as beef substitute and it worked really well. Thank you for making cooking even more enjoyable :)

So glad it was enjoyed, Eva, thanks for sharing your experience with the stew! ☺️

Super tasty

louise - Jan. 23, 2024, 7:21 a.m.

The portion was way too large - are the serving sizes correct on the app? Tasted great

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 23, 2024, 7:21 a.m.

Hey there, Louise, thanks for taking the time to share the feedback and help us improve. We revisited the recipe and you're absolutely right, so we've bumped up the servings for this dish. Thanks for helping us improve what we do! 😊

Aamna Hussain - Jan. 21, 2024, 10:31 p.m.

This was good. I didn't have caraway seeds or mock beef. I would add in sweet potatoes next time.

Jonathan Jacobs - Jan. 21, 2024, 8:32 p.m.

Delicious recipe. I also added some mushrooms and a red pepper which worked really well. Next time I'll top it off with some vegan creme fraiche.

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 21, 2024, 10:34 p.m.

Lovely ideas, Jonathan - thank you! 😊

Natalie - Jan. 21, 2024, 8:02 a.m.

Our family loved this food. Really delicious.

Firebolt - Jan. 18, 2024, 6:51 p.m.

As a Hungarian, I am so happy you named it goulash-inspired stew (not trying to claim it's goulash, as many do, even restaurants...) - I will definitely make it! Looks delicious :)

Agnes - Jan. 28, 2024, 10:32 a.m.

The first hungarian comment I’ve seen in this app! Hi! 🥹

Petra - Jan. 30, 2024, 5:55 p.m.

Sziasztok! 😊

Carolina - Jan. 18, 2024, 4:16 p.m.

This looks really incredible. Can someone tell me wich beef substitute is used in this recipe?

hannah - Jan. 18, 2024, 5:40 p.m.

Not sure what is used in the recipe but vivera beef strips are a good option 😊

PUL small logo PUL Team - Jan. 18, 2024, 6:03 p.m.

Hey Carolina, we personally used the Albert Heijn terra brand "stoof stukjes" as this is the grocery store we do a bulk of our shopping at. Any brand will do though 🤗
