Carrots are usually the sidekick in most recipes, but in this delicious dip, it's the main star! Together with the other ingredients, it blends into a super flavourful spread, that can be enjoyed with crackers, on a sandwich or in whatever way you might like.

I made this to share with my nearly nine month old, and used soy milk to thin out a portion to use for pasta sauce this evening. I have never seen him finish a portion of pasta so fast (which is partly due to a newly mastered pincer grip, but mostly because he clearly loved it!). I skipped the salt and chilli flakes during the recipe, but then added a sprinkle of both to mine at the end. The best thing is we have loads left for the rest of the week to top toast or dip veggies into. We also plan to take some to a playdate later in the week ☺️ one thing I think would make the recipe even easier to follow is if you gave a rough weight for four carrots as they vary a lot and I ended up adding a bit of extra water as it didn't seem like very much for the volume of carrot (I also had to add extra oil and water to help get the mixture blended at the end). I also think a little guidance as to what texture the carrots should be at the end of the cooking time would be helpful.

(as a side suggestion, I would love to see a future collection of your recipes that are good for family meals with a baby or young children, maybe with suggestions how to adapt the recipe for 'beginners' at solids! Maybe when your little one gets to that age?)

Hi Emily, This is such a lovely comment, so glad your little one enjoyed it! As a new mum, I can't wait to see my little one start eating and enjoying food like this 🥰. Thank you for the helpful feedback as well. We’ve now added an approximate carrot weight to the recipe (about 450 g for 4 carrots), and included a quick texture note for the cooking step so it’s clearer what you’re aiming for. Also, your idea for a future family-friendly collection with baby adaptations is noted! In case it helps, we do have a "kid friendly" collection, which you can find on the app's homepage where it says "More collections" - I hope this helps for now!

It is so exciting to see them learning and finding new favourites, I'm excited for you! I am going to try to remember to leave comments if I make baby-specific adjustments to recipes from the app, because I definitely look at the comments before making new recipes to see if there are any useful tips, so someone might find it useful! I feel passionately that the fun thing about weaning is including baby in the culture of family meals, and although there's lots of content out there with recipes specifically for babies, there's a lack of support or inspiration to help people adapt their own cooking to be safe and approachable for baby too (especially if you're not already a confident cook)

It is an awesome alternative to hummus, very tasty. Despite on hating cooked carrots this dip impressed me. Thank you for the recipe ♥️

Brought this to our Christmas party at work, on which every colleague is expected to bring something to eat, preferably prepared by yourself. The dip was very much appreciated and gone in very little time!!

I misunderstood the recipe and I didn't cook the carrots before blending them. Oops. Still really good. Not the first time I adapt the recipe to my tastes and my ingredients... I think that's alright :) anyway I got my appetizer for New year's Eve ! 💪

Hey Melusine, oh no! Thanks for sharing your experience with the recipe. We're glad the dip was still enjoyed after all that 🤗

I had this three days in a row, as dip for my crunchy smashed potatoes. It's really tasty, I highly recommend trying this recipe out!
